Really? She was gorgeous, no doubt, but I thought she was personality free- pretty does not an interesting contestant make, at least for me. Even during Applause she smiled through the whole thing like she just won another pageant.

And besides, I hate when Ru brings eliminated queens back. They rarely last beyond that episode anyway, and even when they do it's never a particularly strong showing.

I just finished watching Untucked, and I agree that its a vast improvement over last season. I know it's only the first episode, but it was nice to see them all band together for the most part. It was definitely a nice change of pace after the consistent cattiness of season 7.

There's no fat queens and no older queens this season.

I watched the first Untucked and it was fine. I don't get this new "let's aim for an Emmy" vibe because it's 1) online and 2) about drag queens b!tching about each other.

 

I was actually kind of shocked that there aren't any big girls this season. I'm glad there aren't any old queens because they always get eliminated first and I feel bad for them. Probably why this first elimination seemed a little more surprising than normal. There was absolutely nothing good about boring Miss Continental and I'm glad she's gone because she showed us all she had to offer (an ok face and some sh!tty Vogueing).

 

I didn't really appreciate Betty's shade thrown at Brooklyn drag queens because it's just a totally different aesthetic. While we're on the subject, you can see Thorgy and buy some cheap clothes at Metropolitan drag auction every third Thursday of the month.

Calling Thorgy for miss congeniality now. She's so sweet. She just seems to love drag. I told someone that I think I hooked up with her at Lilith Fair. She looks like Cosima from Orphan Black out of drag. 

 

I LOVE Bob.

 

Kim is adorable.

 

Cynthia is really funny. The CooCoo thing might get old.

 

Betty will be the one to love to hate this year. Her ex is spilling some serious accusations on FB. He also mentioned when she gets eliminated, if that could be trusted. 

 

I think year has a great group. I will admit that I watched the first episode three times. (Making home improvements gives lots of time to listen to shows you don't have to watch closely.)

I am all about Bob and Kim Chi.

 

I can tell right now Acid Betty is the villain of the season, with Robbie Turner's personality not doing her any favors either.

 

Still on the fence about the other queens. It's a pretty solid group so far. No one is a total obvious disaster like past seasons.

I know Bob the drag queen is a NY fave. He is friend of a friend of mine but I just didn't think he was that funny or polished. I am waiting to be proved wrong.

 

Bring back Latrice Royale. Always make me laugh and smile.

While watching I had to make sure I hadn't switched to How to Get Away With Murder - Bob is the spitting image of Viola and I love his look and personality! The other queens all seem fun - with the exception of Acid Betty, who seems rude rather than bitchy. Lailia seems in way over her head - hope she can turn herself around fast! I'm waiting for them all to impress me more, but after Season 7 the bar has been raised substantially. As of now, Bob is my favorite, though I look forward to seeing how things change. I just want someone who I can root for because they are well executed, kind, bitchy, and funny. I guess Bianca left a large hole in my heart the the DOA seventh season never filled. Here's to Season 8!

Bob is def messy, which I think he will eventually get read for. But I love his shtick and have seen him many times.

Having seen Bob perform live MANY times, I can tell you that "unpolished" and "messy" are not accurate descriptions at all.  Go watch some of the youtube videos of her performances (particularly her "Crazy" medley and "Slave 4 U".  Her "Vogue" is amazing too.  She is so well rehearsed that you can tell she takes the quality of her performances super seriously.

Bob's performances are indeed excellent and clearly well-rehearsed, but I do think her look is a little underwhelming. It's not bad, but it doesn't feel very interesting or individual yet. Even Bianca and Jinkx, who were the most overt "comedy"winners, had a pretty clear look when it came to their face and makeup. Bob's looks a little pedestrian and comparison- and I say that as someone who thinks she absolutely should be Top 3.

When my sister and I were watching the lip sync, we both were all "ugh, both these queens need to be eliminated".  Isn't learning how to give a fierce lip sync to "I Will Survive" like part of Drag Queen 101?  And not to our surprise, they both did get eliminated.

And it saddens me to see how much I look like the young, out of drag Kim Chi.

If I had to predict, I'd think Naomi Smalls is next to go, then the competition can start in earnest.

Sorry, by "messy" I meant Bob's looks are messy. The make-up is fairly basic, the dresses/looks are very basic. That's what I meant. Her performance/lipsynch is indeed perfection. I just wonder if she'll get over shadowed by all the other looks. She's been safe two weeks in a row.

SPOILER FROM THE EPISODE 3 SNEAK PEEK:         Ru says, just before intro-ing the new queen, "I give you the one, the only..." So, I am guessing it's someone we already know. If it was a new queen, I think she'd say, "introducing..." It would be pretty ****ty for it to be another new queen who has to compete but didn't get any of the premier press, the meet-the-queens videos and so forth.
