no… really? I mean, yes, technically glass closets are still closets, but it is also a tongue in cheek oxymoron type thing. And that's on a different level compared to being deeply, truly closeted. IDK. Percentages of closeted-ness, that can be such an abstract concept, don't you think?

Lee has always appeared openly gay to me. He's never bearded, was out and about on the civilian dating scene when he was younger, and was with one particular boyfriend for a long time, back when i was a bigger fan of his and more knowledgeable. As for Richard-not so much. Couldn't say for sure, just seems much more shy and introverted a person than Lee. I guess I would need to do a lot more 'research' but my impression is that they are pretty openly a couple, it's just that they're both more under the radar and neither court the media. and the media doesn't really court them...

haha, i am aren't i? i'm sorry, recuperating from minor surgery, moved to a new apt, taking a lot of norcos, and i've been couch bound for 4 days. And I said i wanted to chatty chat loud and clear! datalounge has been inundated w unhinged 40 yr old obese stalker matrons lately. i needed a change of scenery.

ps- and i have been 'researching' by the way. i'm sorry but you're so wrong! They are totally out to colleagues, family, friends, acquaintances and probably every person in their lives, just not to the press. I consider that 95% not closeted.

Food for thought:

"This is often what is said when public figures do or do not come out: there is a greater obligation that must be met beyond what that person might ordinarily choose to meet. We make these demands, though, without considering how much less privacy that person might have not only because they are a public figure but also because they are part of an underrepresented group. I am not suggesting that we cry for the celebrity who enjoys a lush lifestyle; I am saying we should give thought to the celebrity who would prefer to keep his marriage to a man private for whatever reason, but isn’t allowed that right, a right that is, for heterosexuals, inalienable."
"A Tale of Three Coming Out Stories" by Roxane Gay
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I'm sure their families and close circle of friends know what the deal is. They don't need to make a formal announcement to the rest of the world. If that's what being "closeted" means, that's fine with me. It's only those people close to you that truly matter anyway

i'm sorry pal joey. Really was just making some convo. I can't be talking to the voices in my head the entire day.

Anyway, closets, hello cliched banality, but it is always complicated no matter who you are, public figure or not. and sometimes formal announcements and big statements can be… maybe a bit egotistical or tacky or completely irrelevant in some circumstances.

No. Not all celebrity comings out are "big statements" or "formal announcements."

More and more, they're small acknowledgments, but large with dignity and integrity.

I can't believe no one else has pointed out how incredibly photoshopped that first picture is... Definitely some tumblr troll's poorly realized wet dream.

This pic made it to Just Jared, and he's pretty good about not posting just about anything. Of course, they don't have to come out. But we'd like to officially be jealous of sharing their hotness with (assumedly) only each other.
