^ this.

eta: you have no idea how hard I'm laughing at (with) your post and how much I'm enjoying the sentiment. Which I realize is highly weird, given the subject matter. Perhaps it's the way you have with words. Great post!

Excuse you? Maybe not to YOU, but someone who was loved and cared for DIED. This isn't a contest.

One of my all-time favorites. I'm so sad right now. I know it's silly, but Ms. Bacall was one of those people that I thought will live forever. Or at least well into her 90's.

A Director, I think I was quite clear as to what I posted and why. Since I've been candid about past difficulties, I thought it would seem hypocritical to pretend I hadn't.

But the gist of my post was not only positive, but exuberant, as befitting the sad occasion of her death. (On no occasion have I wished her ill.)

As for calling her "Betty", that's what she told me to call her when I called her "Miss Bacall". In my experience, she was not in the least pretentious. (If you note my posts in the future, you'll find I am extremely careful not to use informal forms of address unless I have used such forms with the celebrity in person. I am not one to throw around names such as "Liza", "Bernadette" and "Patti", when I have never met the women in question.)

If you need any other lessons in being a gentleman, by all means let me know.

It's a quartet if you count James Garner, or is it a quintet if you add Brady?

I hate counting.

Well, lovebwy, I'm glad that the powers who make these decisions have YOUR permission to dim the lights for Ms. Bacall (although her career was dominated by FILMS).

I met Ms. Bacall back in 2001 when working on a play her son was in and she was very nice. (She was pretty down to earth.)

RIP, Ms. Bacall, now you and your beloved Bogie can shine together in the sky-two stars joined for all time.

Lauren Bacall was so beautiful. Just stunning.
One of the most gorgeous women to ever grace the silver screen.
They sure don't make them like that anymore.

Never saw this before. I know there are two other numbers up, but I would love to see the whole show.
