I think Jon Jon Briones comes across better live... I saw him in the tour years ago and thought he was incredible

the lyrical changes are quite jarring for me and i don't hate them but i don't like them

Wow, that trailer is amazing!!! So wish I could see this production and although not everyone does, I've always loved this show so it's nice to see it done justice with this version.

I miss the shades that framed the original design and I'm noticing a lot of the same blocking. Does anyone know if Cameron own the intellectual property so that he's legally able to allow the new director to use some of the same blocking as the original? Like Chris and Kim locking arms at the end of "Last Night of the World" and stuff like that?

I can't wait for this, the cast deserves to be preserved in a new recording. Now, if this arrives on Broadway then we'll finally have that MISS SAIGON movie.

A movie is inevitable whether this production comes to Broadway or not. Cameron already said he'd do it if the Les Miz film was a success.

CatsNY - of course Cameron owns the intellectual property. Any producer-creative contract for a big show signs over the rights to recreate their creative elements, with or without them, in future productions (for a royalty, naturally).

This production has been staged by associate directors/chorographers of Nick Hytner/Bob Avian, so they have been trained to, and are expected to, recreate elements of the original staging as well as add some of their own.

Coins in the air, but Iwould put my money that the Broadway production will happen before the movie.

I thought the changes worked well in the show. They clarified a lot of things, especially when seeing everything that's going on. Gigi is a small role but I felt very sad for her. "Maybe" also shifts the focus of Ellen's heartache to Chris instead of being directed towards Kim. Why would she care about Kim? She doesn't really know her. Worrying about her relationship with Kim makes more sense. The production is simpler than the original one but it is even more cinematic. I loved it.

Like stated above, I have always loved this show, And I too am praying for it to travel across the pond. Plus I have fantasized about a Steven Speilberg directed film version of this for years! Let's hope it happens sooner rather than later!

I LOVE the original musical, but I think the new lyrics for the Marine's in "The Heat is On in Saigon" are much better. The original might have had cleaner/clever rhymes, but the new ones really magnify this motif of hell = Saigon. I'm very excited for this to come to Broadway and hopefully a movie!

Oof, I'm only familiar with the Original London cast recording, and to me those new lyrics are so clunky and clumsy. I don't know how long they've been in the show but I do not like them.

The cast sounds good though!
