First act done! So far just a few opening jitters (dropping some things, etc.) but I'm really impressed. Everyone sounds fantastic. Brynn is absolutely gorgeous and sounds great. Claybourne's voice is a little underwhelming when he tries to reach the high notes and he seems kind of tense, but I have 100% faith that he will get comfortable in the role soon. "Sunday" definitely made me tear up. Excited for act two!

Ok so the biggest problem I had was Claybourne. There were moments when you can tell he really connected with the song and then moments where it seemed like the cast (mainly Brynn) was trying to push him and help him out. Some of the notes he hit sounded weird to me, but I feel uncomfortable commentig on that because I'm not a singer. It seemed like he would hit the note when he vibratoed his voice but before that it didn't sound great.

I hate saying anythig bad because it was their first night! Overall I enjoyed it. I'll be going back later in the run with my friend.

Thank you promises....wasn't sure about Elder, but will hope for the best.
This is one of my favorite shows, I'm curious about the production, especially act two.

Oh. Wait. He doesn't have the range (acting or singing) for the role?! Who would have thought that.

If you have any questions just ask!

And RippedMan, the weird thing was it ALMOST sounded like he did have the range. Like he was RIGHT there . Anyway, like I said, I'll be going back later on so hopefully he will become more comfortable in his character and voice.

Promises: what was the size of the orchestra? Also, how elaborate was the set?

That's just his voice. It's not strong. And I don't find him to be a versatile actor. People just get stunned by his looks, which I get, but he's not a great actor/singer. And that's what bugs me.

Saw it tonight. Was blown away by Claybourne and Brynn and the rest of the company. Claybourne's performance is nuanced and his voice is gorgeous. Brynn is flawless. A few minor lyric flubs tonight but otherwise they are in great shape

RIppedMan, see that's the only thing I don't get! I don't think he's that attractive! He's not ugly by any means, but I just don't find him out of the ordinary.

GetUp&LiveIt- glad you enjoyed it!

Has anyone rushed this production? I'm going to be in DC this weekend, and I was planning on waiting and going for rush, but it looks like all these raves is causing it to sell better than it was right at the beginning of the production, when it looked like only subscription seats were filled. I'd like to avoid paying $100/seat, but only if I won't get shut out!

^I was wondering the same thing about their rush.

Here's a $10 code that theatermania gave out for tickets: http://www.theatermania.com/washington-dc-theater/discount-tickets/sunday-in-the-park-with-george_304151/

Had 2 friends try rush and they couldn't get in. They went on a Saturday night though. Maybe it's different during the week. But it's a very small theatre.

^Its beyond small. I rushed for Gyspy once and they put us on bar stools, haha. If you're a student I know they do that as well but I can't remember what day that's on.

does anyone know if the actors come out and sign afterwards? I know there's not really a stage door at signature, but i'd really love to meet them and chat with them afterward. I just didn't know if like it would be weird if I did?

I bumped into (cruised?) Claybourne as I was leaving a bar near the theater following the matinee as he was heading back for the evening performance. I would imagine that the rest of the cast is just as informal.

I don't think it would be weird at all...they'd probably appreciate it.

A bar serves many things besides alcohol. And if it's the "pub" that the poster is talking about, I don't blame him because they have fantastic food there.
