Don't know if anyone saw the Daily News today but there's an article on Vinny Pastore's prostate cancer survival story, but it alludes to the show going to the West End.

“First, make it through rehearsals. Then to previews. I did that. Then to opening night. I did that. Then to 100 performances, a big deal on Broadway. Now I wanna make it to my 68th birthday, July 14th. Now producers are talking to me about maybe taking ‘Bullets Over Broadway’ to London.”

"The "information" comes from the cast's Mother."

Wow, that must be one busy girl.

I really do feel bad for this show. I saw it last week on my trip and I had an absolute blast. A total throwback to the musical comedy. It's too bad this isn't a big fat hit like it deserves to be.

Is it the best show playing on Broadway now? No but I had fun, I left humming the songs. I can't recommend it enough.

I agree, n2nbaby, I had such a great time at Bullets!

I've been listening to the cast recording a lot lately, too, and I think the score is terrific. To each his own, I guess. I wish the show was doing better than it is.

It's the only show (eight in 5 days) that I also left humming the score. It's a shame it cannot find an audience. I had a great time.

My wife and I saw this show about a month ago. We both enjoyed it enough to check out the source material, the 1996 film it was based on. The musical does not stray very much from the film version. I had not seen the film since its original release in 1996. The reason we gave the show a try was because I remembered the movie being clever and funny and felt it was an inspired choice of Woody Allen films to transfer to the stage. I enjoyed the use of the old standards from the '20s and '30s used as production numbers and felt they supported the story line quite well. Like some other posters on this board, I find it strange this is struggling at the box office. I found it to be a very entertaining show and have recommended it to others.

I saw the show and didn't think it was funny at all, and have not been recommending it. I'm sorry to hear that they aren't doing well but I can't say I'm surprised.

Well, I hated it, and left humming, too. "Yes, We Have No Bananas" is a total earworm. Being able to leave humming isn't always a great thing...

I thought the show was obnoxious and overblown, the complete opposite of the movie.

I think the real problem is there's no reason for people to see this show. The movie isn't an incredibly recognizable title, the reviews were awful, there isn't a big name in the cast, and the marketing is so damn generic. Shame too, since it's one of my favorite movies and I thought it would make a great musical.

I went, enjoyed myself, love Woody Allen, love the movie, but it sort of has that same vibe of Nice Work, where everything onstage seems like it should be a great show, but somehow it's all dead inside.

To me it had the same feeling as Nice Work, Curtains, Kiss Me, Kate, Crazy for You, etc., etc., etc. Nothing fresh or anything we haven't already seen before.

If you took The Producers off that list, I'd agree with you. When will they pull the plug on Bullets

As a straight guy, I have to at least somewhat disagree with newintown. Porn is porn, and it's good for what it's good for. But to say that men don't want to see sexy women doing more suggestive things when we could just watch porn is to make a sweeping overgeneralization. Eye candy is eye candy.

How much of the accusations of Woody Allen and kiddy Fiddlers have killed the show?

the "Daily News article alludes to the show going to the West End."

Must be part of an international exchange program - they get "Bullets" we get "From Here To Eternity". The thinking is shows that don't sell on one side of the Atlantic will sell on the other. "They'll get this better".

"How much of the accusations of Woody Allen and kiddy Fiddlers have killed the show?"

I don't think they had any impact. None of the mixed reviews seemed to care about it... it's not like it was heavily praised and people refused to go.

I completely agree. Men love gorgeous women and dancers bodies are some of the best.

I've seen the commercial plenty of times and it hasn't encouraged me to go in the slightest. The Tony Awards performance didn't either. Still not interested in going...but I can quote: "If it tastes of lighter fluid that's because it's lighter fluid" from the commercial.

Just saw this yesterday (matinee) with 3 generations. Everyone with me enjoyed it more than did I, giving it a "B" and I only gave it a "C".

Nick Cordero was wonderful and I really liked most of the choreography (I'm a sucker for tap) and I didn't even mind the score most of the time. (excepting hating both the hot dog song and Yes, We have no Bananas - that's the way to END your show??). I found the book to be weak, especially the Deus ex machine ending. Braff was inconsistent, I couldn't stand the characterization of Olive, she was obnoxious, and Pastores phoned it in. I'm on the fence about Mazzie, she seemed like she was in a different show than the others, but was in excellent voice. LOVED the costumes.

Didn't see the orchestra, but the mezzanine was only 1/2 to 2/3 full, and lots of empties in the balcony as well. Important to note: the show did NOT receive a standing ovation except from a few here and there (maybe less than a third od the house?)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
