Michael Crawford made $30,000 a week in Dance of the Vampires. This, of course, was a slash from his initial greedy pull for $180,000 a week...

Many of the bigger and more established names can also ask for performance incentives (bonuses), just as professional athletes do like appearing in a certain number of shows or major award nominations and wins. Also do not forget that when base salaries for the bigger names are lower than expected, it probably means they are receiving a small percentage of either the gross or net box office sales.

I'm not disagreeing that 180k a week request by Michael was a laughable starting point. However, his name was a big reason why people were going to purchase tickets to begin with so start high!

Non-profits (Roundabout, Lincoln Center, MTC, etc.) don't have to pay $1807 even for their Broadway shows however. I believe Roundabout's current is $1268, so significantly less.

If you want to be shocked by a performers per show fee, you should be asking about opera singers!

Tag- what are opera singers making, for both leads and ensemble? Opera Stars don't perform every show, or is that not necessarily true?

The following link describes what the major stars get paid. There are not many performances of an opera done. The Met is in contract negotiations with the artistic unions. The Met wants to decrease the salaries, as they are not getting as much box office revenue as they used to.

Haterobics hit the nail on the head when saying it is a feast or famine business, so eloquently put.

$10.000k does seem eye watering high for a principal role, but when you have to pay your agent and manager, unsure what the differents is between the two though? Healthcare contribution and years of training at university that still has to be paid for, also you have to factor in the high living coasts in Manhattan and then for a producer to walk into your changing room Sunday and tell you that the show closes after this week, so you only receive one more pay check.(I am positive that Book of Mormon isn't going to announce it is going to close any time soon), then I don't begrudge an actor a dime of what they earn.

I really wish you'd shorten your obnoxiously long signature. Anyway...
