I'm glad someone mentioned the theme for FRIENDS. It was pretty great the first 2,000 times we heard it!

I also second the mention of the theme song for PSYCH. I used to look forward to episodes where they had time to play the verse as well as the chorus. But the very best were the special episodes where they would sing it in Spanish or some other musical style.

And GOLDEN GIRLS, of course, which somehow never gets old.

But, of course, we all grew up with the theme to THE ADDAMS FAMILY. It's hard to ignore that.

The Addams Family theme is so infectious. Anytime you hear those four notes everyone immediately knows to snap their fingers. Plus it was just so 1960s, when a sitcom could just be silly without taking itself too seriously. (Same with That Girl, Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, etc) These days there isn't one silly sitcom. They all have to be so earnest.

The best theme from the best sitcom that nobody ever saw. But it set the stage for some of the best sitcoms that followed it. My mother and father never missed an episode and talked about it for years.

I found an ok DVD set of most of the one season it ran. It won the Emmy for best writing after it was cancelled. I watch episodes of it a couple times a month.
