Jordan Catalano, can I ask you why you would think that would be a good idea over a non CGI or animated Wicked? Does it only have to do with the two main actresses or other elements of the story? Just curious.

First off, I could care less if it's drawn in stick figures and and filmed in stop motion. But there's a lot of people(not just fans) who want those middle are women playing the their roles in the film. And to create an entire world out of CGI isn't uncommon in any way now in a film and my point was that would be a way to do it and have them in it.

The "ruby slippers" as portrayed in Wicked onstage nightly are very different than replicating them on film. Theatre is physical, but once you start talking about photographing them for a movie, things get far more complicated and ultimately, more expensive. I work for a copywriter, and my boss and I had an interesting conversation about this.

Also, since Warner Brothers acquired the original 1939 film, they have been cracking down on anyone who uses any images from it, including a costly lawsuit in 2012 against several retail companies using imagery from the film without permission.

The Wicked camp has been holding off on a film version to fully capitalize off the productions they have mounted all over the world, that's a given. But I imagine they've also been reluctant to negotiate the pricy copyright contracts that will have to be drawn up, as well.

I'm so tired of this being a headline every time one of them is asked this question. They both give the same exact answer - EVERY TIME. Literally absolutely nothing has changed in this situation in the last several years.

ANYWAY. I love Idina's CGI idea. I also think it would work for them to play the Act II witches and have other actresses as Act I.

I also agree no on the CGI/live action hybrid. I hate it when there are real actors and cheesy cgi landscapes. Traditional animation melded with live action doesn't bother me, but excessive computer backgrounds annoy me so much. And the Beowulf movie looked ridiculous.

It really should be animated. The special effects needed to convey the story would probably look silly in live action, ala "Oz the Great & Powerful."

I agree. I honestly think this would lend itself alot better to animation than to live action. Oz The Great And Powerful was so, so bad. I wish they had just remade Return to Oz and called it a day (although, in the wrong hands, could have actually been worse).

Return to Oz would be remade using CGI effects now though, and the movie would lose the creepy atmosphere that was achieved using live sets and animatronics in the original.

FYI - I certainly don't hate Jordan Catalano. Perhaps we should have a poll. Anyone else NOT hate Jordan Catalano? I'm almost certain I'm not alone in this.

Personally I liked the idea of Anna Kendrick as Elphaba.

My first choice as well. I wish they would go ahead and film this with her before she also ages out of the part.
