I'm familiar with If/Then's storyline(s) but haven't seen the show. What is the context for "Learn to Live Without"?

Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

SporkGoddess- here is your answer, but

**SPOILER ALERT**
The first part of the song (sleeping alone, taking coffee black, sleeping on tired feet, etc.) has to to with her as Beth, the successful city planner who has never married. It transitions to her as Liz with the line "you learn to live without," and then "you learn to fall asleep alone" and double-checking locks, because she now has to learn to do things without her husband. I may be wrong-- I can't remember for sure-- but I think the third part of the song (about holding your life inside you), she is standing between the sets that signify the two worlds and it is sung by "Elizabeth" for both Liz and Beth.

I, too, have yet to see IF/THEN, but I thought 'Learn to Live Without' was deeply beautiful and wonderfully performed.

Learn to Live Without was especially beautiful. So great to see her everywhere on the show this morning!

So she didn't sing "My nose ain't broken"? Well that's certainly disappointing.

"Learn to Live Without" is a heartbreaking song that does something that not many solo songs have done. It's about so many different layers of loss and longing and having to move on even if you feel like you're stuck. I'm not gonna lie...I cried while she sang it.

I'm a big fan of "Here I Go". Very catchy and her voice soars on it.

I thought "Learn to Live Without" was incredible. Was that a new song for New York or was it in D.C. also? Wow.

I'm almost 100% positive it was in DC as well. (:

Her segment was excurciating. What an awful voice. Like nails on a chalkboard. It goes right through me. Thirty seconds was all I could take of that screeching harpe.

Thank you for your input.

The word is "harpy". If you're insulting someone, at least spell it right. (There is a word "harpe" in Greek mythology, which relates to a weapon used by Cronus to castrate his father Uranus, but I doubt that's what you meant.)

"Learn to Live Without" has been in the show for years- prior to DC even. If you search it on youtube, you'll see she's been singing it in concerts for awhile.

I just got to watch the videos and I think she sounded great. I really love "Learn to Live Without." It's a very touching song. I hope I get up there to see her in this. The premise reminds me of that Gwyenth Paltrow movie called "Sliding Doors."

I do wish people who didn't care for a certain actor would just refrain from going into threads about said actor and then EVERYONE would be far happier.

She sounded GREAT.

Carlos. CHILL OUT. I never said she was terrible or horrible. She was good. I had no problems with her performance. But such extreme words like "flawless" should be sparingly used and only for when truly deserved.
