LUCKY!!! Did you grab it?!?!?

There is only one performance to avoid: The Hangover Show, the first performance the day after the opening night party.

I think the evening show would be more exhausting than the matinee. With the Matinee you aren't worn out but after finishing a 3 hour show, you usually only have 2 and a half hours to rest before you have to do the whole show over again and you are expected to be at the same high energy as you were on opening night. It also just depends on the role you have and the show you are in. For example: I really don't see a role like "Nessarose" in WICKED being a particularly challenging role physically or vocally, but then when you have a character like The Leading Player in PIPPIN, then doing a 2 day show is probably just Hell to get through sometimes until your body gets into the swing of things.

Um I never said on their phones I said multiple cell phones ringing. and YES, I have been at shows with teens and they were better behaved then most of the blue hairs I have had dealings with. And I see a lot of theater.

I was at Love's Labour's Lost and the kids were great. It was the freaking older adults texting away and taking pictures.

"BTW my BF is 70 so I am not being agist or anything I am speaking from experience. He hates matinees for the same reasons I do, to quote him, "Too many old people". "

Seriously?! Oh, Lawd. Ima' shake my damn head over here in the corner. Don't mind me.

My favorite matinees are Sunday matinees since they tend to start at 3pm, and then there's a very short wait for a Sunday evening show which likely starts at 7pm. Much less time wasted in between shows. (Must be tough on actors to kill so much time between a Saturday 2pm and 8pm show. People don't need almost 4 hours to eat dinner!! The 3pm and 7pm schedule is sooooo much better.)

You know, gchris, I have no reason to think that my ever-deepening passion for live theater will not continue until I am elderly. I watch old people making their way to their seats at shows all the time, and I hope I live as long as they do and get out and see new things right up until I drop. Maybe in many years you will feel this way, or feel the bite of karma on your ass.

I love it when old people come see shows I am in. I feel like they appreciate the theatrical aspect more than the youth today. Idk.

@GChris, How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

gchris is a guy and yes, it has been well established on here (thanks to chris himself) that his 70-year-old BF is his Sugar Daddy. Yummy!!!

ETA: That's how he is able to stand in line for Pippin tickets every. single. day.

""that his 70-year-old BF is his Sugar Daddy. Yummy!!!""

ahhh OK, good for him. Im all for equal rights, theres good money in it! it worked for Anna Nicole Smith,

Gchris i hope you show him kindness and affection and not this anger and hatred! listen to his stories, they are probably fascinating, wipe his mouth and other orifices to make him comfortable.

I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. I'm 30, and I've never had a problem with either performance quality or a lack of energy from the audience at a matinee. Of course, most of the shows I see are regional... but still.

I was among the youngest at a performance of The Other Place last season and I remember thinking how none of these old folks sat and home shut-in, terrorized by the television into being hermits. My hat was off to all of them.

I love him with all my heart. He is the best. There is no hatred in our home. We just don't like people who do not know how to behave in a theater (regardless of age). He is worse than me with the Blue hairs. You should see him tell people off at the Met that are not acting right. That is where I learned it from. He is a very good person and a great teacher.

I don't care what age you are. Just act correctly at theater. That is why I don't like matinees, Between the tourists, and the blue hairs it sucks. Great that they get out, but STFU and watch the show.

oh and STOP TAKING PICTURES. and if you are going to sneak one, TURN OFF THE FU&KING FLASH DUMBASS!!!!! Updated On: 8/6/13 at 10:34 AM
