We got to the theater a little before 9:00 this morning and got 2 of the last rush tickets to the evening show, in the boxes. I'm grateful to be able to go at all and think all's fair for such discounted seats, but I thought the boxes at least deserve warning from the box office that they are extremely partial view. We missed quite a bit - I didn't realize how much was cut off until we switched to empty mid-mezz seats for Act 2.

That being said - I thought it was tremendous, and the atmosphere was electric! Stunning performances by Andrea Martin and Patina Miller.

Are all of the rush seats that bad or just the ones in the boxes? If there are 20 tickets per show then they can't all be in the boxes.

I was going to ask the same question. Does anyone know how many of the rush are orchestra and how many are the boxes? Also, has the show been selling out or if we did get the boxes could we move to mezzanine before the show started?

I got a rush ticket to the first performance and was happily seated in E18, as I previously posted...but a couple of days ago, as I looked for seats with the discount code online to return to Pippin, I noticed that the same partial-view seat I had was up there being sold for about a hundred bucks! So perhaps that's an indication that the rush seats have gotten worse, going from extreme orchestra side to boxes?

We were some of the last rush tickets, so that makes me think/hope that they sell the orchestra ones first. It was hard to tell who in the boxes had rushed because I hadn't paid that much attention in the line and it's general rush so not all 'students,' but if I had to guess, I would say 8-10 from the boxes were rush.

If it wasn't sold out, it was very close. We definitely could not have moved before the first act without it being very risky - there were a couple of seats here and there and then the middle of the 4th row of the mezz looked like it either didn't sell or a group of 6-8 didn't show. Those seats were *perfect*.

April, do you have link to the discount code online? It may just be worth it to me to buy regular seats with the discount code.

Center, they have $59 and $69 mezzanine seats. Where do you suggest I try and sit if I want to buy mezzanine tix?

I think anywhere in the center mezzanine would be great. I'd avoid the extreme sides, but I don't think being in the last few rows would hurt your experience all that much, so if that saves you some $$$, go for it.

thanks everyone for the information! I bought center mezzanine tickets in row h for 59 dollars after reading everybodys thoughtS. in the end I didn't think the rush tickets were worth it if I get an Obstructed View and didn't want to take a chance on getting box seats.

Hey Steven, I don't think anyone's going to answer that because nobody really knows...but it's been my experience that two-show days like Wednesday and Saturday are always your best bet, and it's hard to imagine, if you're up for either of the two performances, that you'd get shut out. Good luck!

To answer a question from earlier in the thread, the Music Box does have standing room. I stood for THE VERTICAL HOUR. I don't know however, if it is being sold for PIPPIN yet.

most shows that have SRO tend to wait until after they open to sell them. Typically if the show is sold-out during previews, the creative team tends to use the SRO spots to take notes.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on rush. Went on Wed and the majority of people got there about 8:30. I would estimate about 20 people in line by that time. I was third in line for the matinee and got row C on the side. My view was fine but I think one more seat over would have been a little obscured.

Also went on Sat. Got there at 7:30 and had no problem getting a ticket for the matinee that day. Row B on the side which was a little too close and far over. The first guy in line got there at 5:30am which seemed a little ridiculous (and it was).

I would suggest going now because once more people get wise to how amazing the production is it's going to get worse. Also the Tony noms/wins it's sure to have.

Can someone tell me why the boxes are so bad? I think the slight lines look fine but I haven't sat there yet.

just curious if they've been selling SRO now with the show selling out(most nights). Also, it's only been on TKTS Tue/Wed/Thur at only 20% off and isn't on the board long.

I'm seeing it tonight so I'll let everyone know how my seats were. I didn't want to take a chance on missing any of the good parts so the $59 mezzanine were the way to go for me. I'm usually a snob and only like orchestra even if it's on the side, but I wanted to see everything for this show.

Since you rushed on a Sat.-I wanted to try for tomorrow's evening performance. What time would I need to get there, in your estimation? (I'm asking because you mentioned there were people ahead of you. I was just wondering if you had any idea-besides that first guy-how early people got there.)

I can't say for sure but I would assume 7:45 would be fine. If you don't have a preference of which show then maybe a little later.

8am- 15 people in line(1st group got there at 630)
10am- about 35-40 people

Box office gave out 15 rush and the rest standing room if available

Does anyone know how the view is/if anything is cut off from standing room as a result of the mezzanine overhang?

I don't know specifically about standing room, but I sat in row O of the orchestra, which is the second row from the last, and I could see everything easily. (And I had been worried.) I presume standing room is behind the last row of the orchestra. I bet your view is fine.

Excellent, thank you, does anyone know how many spots there are for SRO? Based on the grosses it seems like there have been 10 extra tickets sold per show, does that mean there are really only 10 standing spots or were one or more of the shows perhaps not 100% sold out? Just trying to know so I can gauge whether or not waiting on line will be worth it when I go.
