PRINCE OF BROADWAY should go quietly while no one's watching.

Motown has a theatre and an opening date in April.

Diner is opening April 10, with its theatre TBA.

It's possible, but I don't see DINER there. MOTOWN moreso than DINER, certainly.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I have tickets for Cyrano and Drood. I'm kind of excited about Motown. If it's done right, it should be a great story. I probably will try to work in Matilda too.

Also, I plan on seeing the City Center Encores special, Cotton Club Parade, in November. Does anyone have any advance word about that? You certainly can't beat the music!

The only way Motown is coming in this season is if Peter and the Starcatcher and/ or Scandelous close come January (which is Extremely likely) but realise Jeckyll and Hyde has priority since its a Neaderlander production amd already has all of its ducks in a row so it will get the Lunt if its the only theater available over Motown.

The Richard Rodgers doesn't have a tenant past mid-October, so MOTOWN could conceivably go there.

I've heard different,
but it's all speculation till it's announced.
J&H will never fill the LUNT, should it move there.

I completely forgot about the Rogers...sorry about that, but from what I have hear/read Motown wanted the semi-intimate Neaderlander, but when Newsies became a hit they then turned to the Atkinson. If Peter countinues at its current rate, since its a play that very well maybe, Motown won't likly open till next season. If its producers are willing to wait, especially since Matilda, Kinky Boots and possibly Dinner (we don't know if its small scale revamp will work) will be getting all the buzz, with Matilda leading the charge. Since Motown is going to be a jukebox musical its award potential is already handicapped. In my opinion on would hold off a year and try to build up some buzz and let some off-broadway show transfer and flop especially in a season with 9 new musicals slated to open (I am including Hands on Hardbody since it looks like it will take the Circle in the Square and Diner since it has Ms. Crow and the buzz of its small scale makeover) a tenth one unless its spectacular, and lets face it what jukebox musicals are (American Idiot, Jersey Boys, and Mamma Mia all of which opened in relatively slow seasons) especially coming off the Baby Its You fiasco.

Riedel speculated several months ago that Warhorse is set to move down to a Times Square area theatre, as all the Lincoln Center subscribers have seen the show and the producers want to cash in on tourists? What is going into the St James once bring it on finishes its run? Any news about the King and I going into the Lincoln Center? Or has this been put on ice since Cinderella is now opening?

I don't see WAR HORSE making enough in grosses to warrant a move to another theater. It's possible that after the holidays they could close and re-open elsewhere for the Spring, but in my opinion I think that's a dumb move. It will run into the winter and probably close for a Spring opening of a new show, if they have one ready (ie THE KING & I).

So only four musical revivals this season? (JEKYLL & HYDE, MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, ANNIE and maybe CINDERELLA) Wonder if any other revivals will be announced, especially now that INTO THE WOODS seems dead-ish.

If Elf waited another year it would be considered a revival (3 year rule) as long as they started previews On Novemver 3, 2013...back to the point though there is

Revivals In order of likelihood:
1. On the Twentieth Century (now that Ms. Chenoweth off The Good Wife this is seeming more of a reality)
2. The King and I (50th anniversary revival)
3. Funny Girl (if they ever get the money together and now that Lea Michele is in NYC for glee she is semi-available)

Kristin Chenoweth is INJURED. How is that revival the most likely??

THE KING & I and INTO THE WOODS are the only musical revivals that are even somewhat of a possibility (that have had press).

We haven't heard zilch from the producers of FUNNY GIRL since they lost the major investment that would have brought it to Broadway last season. Unless they nab a big star, I don't see it happening this season.

Wasn't THE KING & I being developed with Kelli O'Hara in mind? If so, I don't see that happening in the spring with her attached to the NY Premiere of FAR FROM HEAVEN in May.

Saw Matilda in London. The set is great. The first 10 minutes are great and Miss Trenchbull is very funny for a while then (in my opinion) it gets very dull. Didn't love the score. To me its a very over-rated show. Of course all of the hype I heard did not help.
