I'm looking at a possible tonsilectomy this summer. I've had a peritonsillar abscess. I really hope it would not affect my singing voice. I'm 26 and have played Pinocchio in Shrek, and have done a pretty good impression of Ariana Grande. Any tips on what to tell the surgeon if I end up having to get it done?

Just remind the doctor that your voice is very important to you. They'll do the best they can. More than not, your singing voice usually improves following the removal of tonsils; especially if they always give you trouble or constantly cause irritation/infection/etc.

It can. It depends on the person. I have seen people's voices change from recurrent bouts of tonsillitis...so...

I used to get strep every time I'd turn around when I was a kid. Another concern at my age would be the bleeding after about a week post surgery.
