Well, I don't know if Disney or Burton counts this as a sequel to the book, 'Alice in Wonderland', but this film is apparently going to have a sequel.

There was barely enough story there for the one movie, and what little there was was stretched pretty thin to begin with. What else can they possibly do with these characters?

After 'Lone Ranger' bombed Disney clearly wants a successful live-action franchise of their own.

Disney already has a sequel in the works for Oz the Great and Powerful, too.

But it sounds like Disney is Depp's best friend right now.

And he needs another commercial hit, or he needs to step back into the "Indie" movies again and drop his salary. He's a talented actor. I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

All four of them.

Ah, but will you say no three years from now?

Or will you even remember the question?

At least it has a different director. James Bobin did a great job with 'The Muppets' though I am not sure what he can do with this kind of material.

With 'Maleficent' opening tomorrow and Mary Costa, the voice of Aurora from the 1959 cartoon, giving her thoughts on the film I thought I'd share another legendary Disney voice actress's thought on a different Disney live-action retelling of a story. Kathryn Beaumont, the voice of both Alice from the 1951 cartoon and Wendy from Disney's 'Peter Pan', had this to say about the Tim Burton film.

Kevin Carr: "Wh-what are your thoughts on th-the new movie that Tim Burton did this year [sic]? Did you, did you like that?"

Kathryn Beaumont: "Oh, yeah, absolutely! You know, um, you have to know that Tim Burton is different. But he is very creative, and I think he had some great ideas. I love the way he, uh, you know, he created the different characters, and characters that I remembered but done in a different way, and just utterly charming, I love their voices, I thought they were just great. Um, and I liked the, the concept of, basically it was a different story, because Alice, then, has grown up, but she hasn't quite come of age, and it's sort of a story of getting there. So it was a whole different idea, and that was a fresh one, and I think that, that was very, a very good idea. And I, I enjoyed it."
