They must have just updated it. I'm seeing Miguel on the cast page on my phone but not my computer. If Miguel is the alternate as stated, then what they announced last week was wrong.

sounds to me like there is still a bunch of shuffling going on. I wouldn't blame the press office because (a) this sounds like production/casting issues to me and (b) the poster comes out of the ad agency. I guess we will know tonight but it does sound like they may have some weird days this week, and maybe that has to do with the Wednesday enigma. (Could be contract issues, could be readiness issues, could be scheduling issues, who knows?

There hasn't been any public explanation or comment hence why I haven't said anything further. Honestly, it's a confusing matter after all the new cast members they've announced. 

 

This is also why I haven't said anything. In fact I wish I had not known. I do know and it's still weird. It will be more fun to discover on Wednesday if it hasn't leaked by then.

Both Miguel & Michael are listed at Hamilton Alternates on the website and not Alternate & Understudy.

Sorano and IslandBoy, I stand by what I said earlier, and what Hogan said, that if you can't give us all the information, don't say anything at all. Otherwise it comes off like , as Hogan says "a look at me moment." You hinting that you know something is literally adding nothing to discussion.

Sydney said on his twitter that he's playing Burr this week and then every other week thru August 13th. Assuming that means Austin and/or Andrew will play Burr during his off-weeks.

there has to be a back story to what's going on today (and perhaps the last few days and perhaps tomorrow); maybe it will reveal itself eventually but it does feel like a true fubar moment. luckily the only place it looks "really bad" is here since 99.99% of the population will never hear about any of this and one of the glories of the theatre is that the show will likely go as if none of this ever happened.

The whole cast thing is weird but I'm not really sure if that's what you guys are talking about? Is it that Miguel is there all of a sudden? Either way, I'm really surprised that Reidel or page 6 has never reported on the Odom situation and where it went wrong. The idea that the show is the star was negated by hiring Dixon. I know that very few people are saying "I have to go see him!!!" but at the same time, I doubt he's working for scale and he's known to regular theater patrons. Also, do ensemble members usually leave on their own or is the contract not renewed? I'm just curious why Rua and others leave the production without seeming to have a job waiting. 

And lastly, can someone please explain what's happening Wednesday because tickets are relatively cheap and I have $180 in SH money. Lol

It's that the current poster contradicts the earlier press release. Somewhat less alarming is the website issue which might be chalked up to internal error, although it's still listing two Ham alternates (Michael and Miguel).

What show/performance will Javier Munoz not perform over the next six weeks? In the NYT article, he stated he would be doing 7 of 8  shows as had been done previously, but with no Sunday shows this month and next, what day's performance will feature the understudy?

I think the last time they went to a no-Sunday schedule, Javier did the Saturday matinees, so I would assume the same would apply here to whomever the alternate is.

I think it is likely per your other post that it is a readiness issue. Where did you get the idea something "went wrong" with Odom? The show-is-star is not negated by Dixon; principals in shows do not work for scale, and if you thought they were going to hire a bunch of rank amateurs to carry this brand forward, well you were wrong. All of the new principals as well as those who will go out are going to be top-tier talent.Ensemble members have a right to continued employment just like all Equity actors unless bought out (highly unusual) or terminated for cause. So yes they leave on your own. And where did you get the idea Rua did not have a job waiting: he is choreographing Aida at MUNY and of course is teaching. His leaving is easier to understand when you recognize he is a choreographer first.

 I never thought they would replace the leads with nobodies but in the thread on Odom there was some speculation about hiring unknowns to keep it focused on the show and so no one gets a big head.

Who speculated that? The fan base? Because I find it incredibly hard to believe that that line of thinking came from anyone connected to running a professional Broadway theater production.
