I agree, Yankee. What's the point if they're going to have so many nominees?

I wonder why they chose to nominate Gallagher as lead actor. Very happy for him, Groff and Michele nonetheless.
Things that struck me the most: -No best play nomination for Coram Boy? -No best musical revival nomination for A Chorus Line? I think it should be there in place of Les Mis. As much as I love Les Mis it's much more of a return engagement than an actual revival, IMO. -No best lighting nomination for Spring Awakening?
No revival nod for Inherit the Wind? Interesting...

lots of love here and in the OCC awards for In The Heights...havent heard that much about it, even here (havent looked, will now.)
Surprised to see so much love for Adrift in Macao...TERRIBLE show, but glad Orville Mendoza got a nod, surprised Michelle Ragusa didnt join him.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
No direction or set design nomination for JOURNEY'S END. Bazaar.

The point of "so many nominations" is that it is Broadway AND Off-Broadway. You'll notice some glaring omissions, so obviously there are not too many slots for every category.
Have I ever shown you my Shattered Dreams box? It's in my Disappointment Closet. - Marge Simpson
Gavin Lee should be in the featured category (if nominated at all). I didn't think his role was all that large, or that he was all that good.
Way too many nominees. At least all of the LEGALLY BLONDE groupies will be happy that they allowed so many nominations, otherwise it would have been virtually shut out like before.
Itty Bitty Geisha?
Toyland?
Gypsy Pasadoble?
Just a few popular favorites...
The nominees and winners here are going to say very little about the Tony nominees and winners. The categories are divided so differently.
For the Tonys, John Gallagher, Jr. will be Featured, while Gavin Lee will be Leading, yet here they're switched.
Debra Monk will be Leading, and here she is Featured.
Boyd Gaines will be Leading, while here he is Featured.

Why do the Lead Performance in a Play categories have seven nominees?

-No Spring Awakening lighting nom. One of the most thrilling lighting plots I've seen on Broadway.
-No Rob Ashford for choreography. I found his choreography to be most of the humor in Curtains. I always love his work.
-Orfeh's continued love. I really didn't love her in Legally Blonde...although I can't necessarily think of someone that's missing from that list...perhaps Rebecca Luker...
No lighting nod for Spring Awakening? What the hell? The show has some of the best lighting I've ever seen. I'm glad Lea Michele will be recognized for something this season. This is a little odd there is no nod for ACL. Updated On: 4/26/07 at 10:45 AM
I'm glad to see Walsh nominated... and Esparza, even though that was a given. I'm just counting the minutes until people start saying that since Groff got a DD nomination, he's totally going to get a Tony nom. as well. Kinda bummed that Company didn't get one for its lighting.
What pisses me off is that Meryl Streep got a nomination, in my opinion, because she's Meryl Streep, and Kevin Spacey got a nomination because he's Kevin Spacey. Streep's performance in MOTHER COURAGE was tired. Spacey brings nothing new to MISBEGOTTEN in his performance. In fact, he hinders the production, in my opinion. I would have given his slot to Hugh Dancy in a heartbeat.

The Chorus Line revival being overlooked doesn't bother me because I expect 110 in the Shade to win anyway. Also, Coram Boy being overlooked doesn't surprise me, but glad that Xanthe and Jan Maxwell got nods. BUT, I predicted Spring Awakening to win Best Lighting. So WOAH!!?? No nomination, kinda curious. Also, Rob Ashford didn't deserve a nod for the choreography in Curtains, it was not even close to his best work.
Also, really surprised Martha Plimpton got nominated over Jennifer Ehle, but I can understand if they considered Jennifer leading again here like in the OCC nods. She will be featured come Tony time.
