per playbill, it also includes Original Music (might be incidental music?)

The 20-member onstage choir, which will perform Handel's "Messiah" as well as original music composed by Adrian Sutton, will include Philip Anderson, John Arbo, Sean Attebury, Renee Brna, Charlotte Cohn, Sean Cullen, Katie Geissinger, Zachary James, Tinashe Kajese, Katherine Keyes, Evangelia Kingsley, B.J. Karpen, Eric William Morris, Samantha Soule, Daniel Neer, Nina Negri, Mark Rehnstrom, Martin Sola, Alisson Weller and Greg Wright. The singers will be backed by a seven-piece chamber orchestra

So my argument is Why "CORAM BOY " not considered musical ?
Its like ....if you consider G.F Handel's Music pre-existing music as in "JERSEY BOYS" & "MAMMA MIA" case that used pre-existing music and was called a musical . I would hate to think as Coram Boy as a jukebox musical too, better as a play , huh? (that does not sound good ! )
I guess.. Play with Music ...Just a thought :)

whereas those musicals are based around the music. Coram boy is play simply supplemented with music.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. I may try Thursday. My class was cancelled. We'll see.

I haven't seen Prelude, but I found TR almost unwatchable. I couldn't even muster enough emotion for the characters to hate them. If I hadn't promised a friend in California I'd try for an autograph, I would have walked out.

CORAM BOY features Handel's MESSIAH? That piece is over 2 1/2 hours long. They must be doing excerpts of MESSIAH. Seems stange to me.I look forward to feedback once it starts previewing.

Withouta Trace- Can you pls post your review of Coram after you
see it? So I would Know what to expect- BTW - Your reviews were very useful & informative (specially "DEUCE"- I certainly agree with most of the things you posted after I saw it last Saturday 4/14) Thanks-J*

Gypsy9- From what I heard from "Coram Boy" website- I think it only features certain selections from Messiah , (no.44 and no. 12
-- to name few) -j*

Ok...I'm curious now. Isn't CB listed as a play? How do they do that if so much of it is music? Or did I just read the play thing wrong?

jordangirl- per Playbill "Coram Boy" is a play ..as manderson05 says...Coram boy is play simply supplemented with music.

It has music bec. C.F Handel (the german composer) is one of the character of the play..I hope that answer your question.-j*

Thanks. Yeah...and I read the thing in a playbill in a theatre the other day and it still confuses me. The quote by Still... "There is one hour and ten minutes of music in this two and a half hour show, most of which is sung." They can categorize it however they want...it's just confusing to have a "play" where over half of it is music and sung.

Oh well. :) No big deal, I'll just be confused.

I think I was the only one on the boards who saw it last night...and my review would be so negative that I'd rather not post it. Please wait until someone else sees it tonight. The audience seemed to *love* it, so obviously I missed something. Seems to be like this will be another HISTORY BOYS (where everyone loves it and it gets across the board raves, but I couldn't stand it).

I would rather see DEUCE again that have to go through what I experienced last night. Updated On: 4/17/07 at 10:08 AM

Honestly, what was so awful about the show in your opinion? You're being incredibly melodramatic about an opinion and frankly it comes off as quite arrogant. I saw the exact same show with different actors in London and quite enjoyed it. I just don't see what you consider to be unbearable about it.

I just didn't get it. I had no idea what was going on the entire show. Why were the dead babies being buried in the stage? Why was it such a big deal when one of the babies wasn't buried and he remained alive? What was the whole point of the angels? Why was the man hanged in the end of Act 1? Why did Act 2 seem like a completely different show? Why were the boys sailing on a ship in Act 2? Why did they jump off the ship and swim to shore? Did they die and come back to life at the end when they returned to the church? The chorus was *excellent* but what was the point of having them there?

Obviously, I didn't understand the play at all...

When others see it later this week, I would appreciate a detailed plot summary so that I can actually try and understand this thing. Thank you.
