This is from Page Six.com: "That “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark” star Reeve Carney pulled teary-eyed superfan and part-time Starbucks barista Christine Antosca onstage after she saw the show for the 200th time. " I'm speechless. But Bravo to her! from RC in Austin, Texas..

You all are so mean. If this is her passion, than what's wrong with that? She gets enjoyment out of it. It's like when Tim Robbins swam through a mile of shlt to get freedom. SPIDERMAN is her mile of shlt and she needs to swim it to feel...something. Like when teen girls cut themselves. The pain makes them feel alive. SPIDERMAN is the razorblade to her skin.

You're all just so closed minded and cruel.

PattiLupone FANatic - IMO - I just wonder how smart it is to publicly reward someone on stage like this for seeing show that many times. There are enough people who act a bit "crazy" at stage door and this type of thing may lead them to think they they should get rewarded onstage also because they are big fan also.

It's always weird when I see BroadwayWorld members out there making fun of people who just enjoy something. In a community that is commonly made fun of, you would think that we'd be a more welcoming and non-bully crowd, but some people here are just so so mean and judgmental.

Pipe down.

This fan loves Spider-Man. She's seen it 200 times? So what? What about this makes you so ticked off to start bashing this fan? Get over it already, geesh! Just move on with your life already. Soon you're all going to making fun of people who listen to soundtracks more than once, my gosh.

Starship - Really. Since I have become a member I have read people make fun of just about everyone and sometimes pretty nasty. Manilow came to Broadway and there were deragatory comments about his fans on this board. Some poor student asked a question about whether Idina Menzel wrote her own songs and was thrashed by several members. Some people have been mocked because they enjoy getting Playbills signed at stage door. In other words, I hope you express the same sentiments on these other issues.

I know there was a picture of Jenn and Reeve with this girl back when Jenn was still in the show, and not in a stagedoor-type atmosphere. So Reeve and the girl have known each other for a while it would seem (not saying it's out of the context of fan/performer, but still).

As a part time barista, I'm just curious how she managed to afford to see the show $200. The cheapest seats are $56.50 after taxes and fees, so she's dropped at least $11,300 on the show. WOW!

I know the definition of sarcasm, my point is that people are either really nasty on here, or their incredibly nice. The meanness which seems to run rampant around here makes it hard to discern between the two. I joined in August after years of just reading and find it very difficult to respond to threads when you don't know if someone is being sincere, or just an ass.

So sorry.

Well, a cruel sense of humour is better than none I guess. Being from London, the west end board just seems a little less biting and, well, sarcastic I guess.

I didn't define if for you...I tried to help you figure out his intent. (Which is what you were confused about.)

This actually exemplifies the problem with discussion boards, I really just tried to address your question, but you took it as a snarky answer. (Not blaming you or me, just that part of the problem is you can only interpret whatever tone is implied.)

And I don't see any sort of cruel humor.

It is cruel, but thank you for acknowledging my confusion. Who knows how to read anything on here when so many people are just arrogant and wonky in their approach? I think the "It's called Sarcasm" gives the impression that I'm an idiot and someone else is more intelligent. This may be true, but wording is still important.

Wow! This Is One Dedicated Spiderman Fan!

I think it is always safer to err on the side of sarcasm and cruel humor on this board. It may not be that way for the London board, but a lot of what gets said on here is snarky. Also, the more you read these boards, the more you'll realize who is typically sarcastic. Therefore, you'll know how to interpret the response. I guess it just comes with familiarity with the regular crowd. There is certain kind of unintentional in-crowd-ness that invades these boards, and so some questions get answers that can be biting (especially when they ask about another poster's intent). Just know no harm was intended. Have fun and don't mind most of us. They typically don't bite too hard and the sting diminishes extremely fast.
