Why is Barry Manilow not selling better?

I know all about the sickness and the blizzard. But I am really surprised at the low numbers. Is nostalgia not kicking up a storm on broadway?

But he has such a huge following. I'm sure they were expecting better. Makes me wonder how Bette and Tom Hanks will fare.

Dame, Barry has a following yes, but not nearly as much as Bette and Hanks. Also, he just did a tour last year and played the Music Hall last May. On top of that his ticket prices for Manilow on Broadway are quite steep to say the least.

When this was announced I got to thinking to myself if there were any Manilow songs I truly, truly liked. I really couldn't think of a one and then the other day I was listening to some music via my cable provider's Stage and Screen music station while cleaning up around the house and "Ready To Take A Chance Again" (from the 1978 Goldie Hawn/Chevy Chase comedy, "Foul Play") suddenly came on and I realized that's the one.

Too many dates is my guess. Already extended through March 3, but so far, it hasn't been sold out or anything. Seems like Vegas, where nostalgia for pop is more celebrated, would have been a better option for run longer than a couple of weeks.

^I'm pretty sure the only reason it is "extended" to March 3 is to make up for the lost shows when he was sick. I don't believe it is extending again.

Probably the fact that the show pretty much is the Vegas show.

I wonder how many of the unsold seats are the $700 seats. It would make sense that they put an enormous amount of them on hold hoping they would be sold.

Don't they lower the price of those seats when they don't sell? I would assume they have one kind of Dynamic pricing in play.

Probably the blizzard. The blue hairs couldn't drive/bus/train in from Long Island, Jersey and Westchester.

I wasn't making fun of anyone. I just asked a question.

Horror shows don't sell. And what he has done to his face is a horror.

I saw him when he played my town (Rochester, NY) a couple of years ago - it was great, but I really didn't feel the need to see him again. Maybe others felt the same way. It was just kind of a full-circle thing - I saw him in NYC back in the 70s, and for nostalgia's sake thought it would be fun to go once more.

I wish he hadn't had so much plastic surgery and I also wish that he hadn't done that part of the show where he sang with the video of "young Barry." That really pointed up the difference in his appearance. I also thought it was kind of creepy when he descended from the stage in that little cage and pulled someone out to dance a slow dance with him. Awkward! I never, ever thought of him in the same category as my other teenage crushes (Peter Frampton, etc.) I just loved his voice.

I have to add that I'd say most of the people there when I went were in their early 50s, like me - not "blue-haired" senior citizens

I am 48 and when I saw him in Los Angeles his audience was about my age. There were also tons of children there being that it was the Hollywood Bowl. The young Barry thing has always been hilarious to me. I think that in the last year that has been edited from the show.

He's not as good as he use to be?
I saw him a few years ago and he looked like he was going through the motions but I didn't see any passion in his performance.

IMO - because it is probably the same show he has been doing for years and the prices are steep. I am not a Manilow fan but when was the last time he put out some new music? Obviously, you have to perform the "hits" but to expect people to come repeatedly without having anything different in your setlist is wrong.

I remember seeing Barry Manilow in his prime, with great seats, for $25.

It's hard to justify seeing him today, far from his prime, for $700.
