Michael: Richard H. Blake Lindsay: Erin Dilly Gob: Christian Hoff Buster: Stanley Bahorek George Sr.: Mark Jacoby Lucille: Christine Baranski Tobias: Danny Burstein George Michael: Gerard Canonico Maeby: Jennifer Damiano Lucille 2: Liza Minnelli
I want full musical numbers of "Hot Cops" and "It Ain't Easy Being White," as well as one of Gob's magic shows and a full-size stage replica of the banana stand. That is all.
re: I stand-by my comments on GLEE May 20, 05:14:49 PM I didn't really like what they were saying, but I loved how they were saying it. It's a very stylish take on the hackneyed "daring criticism of high school caste systems, omg!" The adults are definitely going to be my favorite parts - I love Matt and Jayma Mays, and Jessalyn Gilsig constantly pops up in stuff that I like (Heroes, See This Movie, etc.) so I have a certain affection for her as well. Didn't love that all of the "high school kids" seemed to have Botox and receding hairlines, but thi
re: The 2009 Tony Awards Host Will Be... May 8, 01:04:52 PM I'd like to see Jane do it, but she's on an NBC show. Dunno about the odds of her hosting a CBS awards show...
re: At least Raul was nominated again.... May 6, 02:23:52 PM I'm just hoping that the gods of the perennial Tony also-rans will smile on him at some point during the next couple years. I'd love to see him win for Speed-the-Plow, but that performance didn't create half the buzz that Bobby did. The Piven-mercury poisoning thing dominated the headlines instead.
Somebody get him into a new show that will sweep the Tonys. Preferably co-starring Kelli O'Hara once she has her kid (because she has a bit of the always-a-bridesmaid awards thing going on as
re: Songs With Weirdest Subject Matter May 4, 10:18:15 PM "Genius" from Flight of the Lawnchair Man. Leonardo Da Vinci leads an enthusiastic dance number. It lives up to its title.
"Ruffhousin' Mit Shuffhausen" from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels comes to mind as well.
re: Company cast recording: original or revival? Apr 16, 02:17:37 PM I actually really like the 1995 recording. It doesn't stack up to the original, but the cast is fantastic, and if you don't mind the synth-y orchestrations (which I don't, really), it's a good recording to put on when you just want to hear the score. The 2006 revival was amazing live, but I don't really like the recording (aside from Walsh's Ladies Who Lunch - the ending is chilling).
It all really comes down to personal taste, obviously. But I wouldn't write off the '95 recording so qu
Closing night of Get Smart, I'm Agent 99. During the scene where Max and I first meet, there's a throwback to the TV show where I take off my hat, shake out my hair, and we lean in for a kiss but pull back at the last second. Well, the guy playing Max had been messing around with me during some of the shows and had gotten me to break character a couple tim
re: Unpopular Opinions You Hold Apr 14, 09:21:49 PM I know it may sound elitist, but here goes: I just don't like the majority of contemporary Broadway musical comedies. Out of the past decade, I loved Hairspray, and Spelling Bee, liked Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Urinetown, and Drowsy, and thought [title of show] was pretty okay but vastly preferred its off-Broadway incarnation. It's not that every show I see has to be ~*serious art*~ - I love shows like Little Me and Bells Are Ringing with a pretty big chunk of my heart. But shows like Legally Blo
re: I'm ready for a revival of THE SECRET GARDEN Apr 8, 04:59:42 PM Celia K-B and Laura Benanti were both amazing in the concert. I'd like to see them reprise those roles in a full-scale production.
This is atrocious. I'm laughing so hard right now!
re: Crazy Concepts of Classic Shows Mar 12, 07:02:22 PM I've always wanted to do a super-minimalist production of Into the Woods in which the set begins with a table (the Baker's), a chair (Cinderella's), and an archway/gable type thing (Jack's). As each character is introduced, a new piece is added to create, by the end of act one, a really fantastic, structurally modernist set, which would symbolize the fulfillment of their wishes and so on/so forth. As each of them is killed off during the second act, however, their respective pieces would be take
I swear to god and all that is holy, I was in that production. (And it gets worse: the kid playing Shrek was wearing a costume recycled from How the Grinch Stole Christmas.)
"I always assumed that the makers of 30 Rock would have to search far and wide to find an actress unique enough to play the mother of Judah Friedlander's… well, um, unique Frank. But was I ever wrong: They only had to go as far as Broadway!
Stage legend Patti Lupone has nabbed the part, sources confirm to me exclusively.
The Tony winner, who recently wowed 'em as Gypsy's Mommie Dearest, was last seen on the small screen playing the mother of Michael Ur
re: Misleading Titles Jan 6, 11:20:55 PM Zombie Prom. You know, you go in thinking it's going to be some deep, introspective psychodrama about the human condition, but... nope. It's about a zombie prom. What gives?
