Val Kilmer's just been announced to star as Moses, in the new musical engagement at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. If you're befuddled about the casting of Val Kilmer, just try to pronounce the name of the production company "BCBGMAXAZRIA Entertainment" and it'll all seem simpler. (Hint, Max Azaria is one of the producers). Kilmer does have more extensive stage experience than most realize:
Juilliard trained, early in his career
Kilmer appeared off-Broadway in "The Slab Boys" with Kevin Bacon and
Sean Penn. He played Hamlet at Colorado Shakespeare Festival and
appeared in "As You Like It" with Patti LuPone at the Guthrie Theatre
in Minneapolis. He appeared at Joseph Papp’s New York Public Theatre in
"Henry IV Part 1," "’Tis Pity She’s a Whore," and "How It All Began," a
play he co-authored, directed by Des McAnuff. Aside from that, he's been in a movie or two. Performances begin September 18, and it opens on Monday, September 27. Visit the show's web site here.
