Wetumpka Depot and South City Players' 'NIGHT, MOTHER Heads to AACTF Region IV Festival, Now thru 3/8

The Wetumpka Depot Players of Wetumpka, Alabama and South City Players of Alabaster, Alabama are proud to announce that their collaborative production of 'night, Mother has won the honor of performing at AACTFest Region IV festival presented by the Southeastern Theatre Conference to be held at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre in Chattanooga, Tennessee today, March 4 - 8, 2015.

Local audiences will have an opportunity to see 'night Mother at the Wetumpka Depot Players Theatre, February 26-28. Tickets may be purchased by calling the box office at 334.868.1440 or online at wetumpkadepot.com.

To be eligible to perform at the Southeastern Theatre Conference festival, Wetumpka Depot Players and South City Players performed at the Alabama Conference of Theatre state festival last fall. In addition to winning the Alabama Conference of Theatre festival, the production was honored with Festival Adjudicator Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Acting awards to Sue Ellen Gerrells and Kristy Meanor.

The Wetumpka Depot Players and South City Players are hoping to receive top honors at the Southeastern Theatre Conference festival so it may advance to the national community theatre festival this summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. AACTFest 2015 will take place June 23 - 28 and will showcase 12 community theatre productions from across the United States and the U.S. Military Overseas.

"The collaborative efforts of our two companies were vital in pulling the production together. While both the Wetumpka Depot Players and South City Players are no strangers to festivals, the production celebrated how two companies can share resources as another vehicle to participate in festivals," said Tom Salter, 'night Mother, director. South City Players previous festival recognitions include Sylvia and Agnes of God. The Wetumpka Depot Players' festival recognitions include Second Samuel, AACTFest11 national festival and The Fantasticks, SETC Best in Show in 2014.

AACTFest is a program of the American Association of Community Theatre. It is a biennial event that has been held since 1969.

The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) is the resource connection for America's theatres. AACT represents the interests of more than 7,000 theatres across the United States and its territories, as well as theatre companies with the armed services.
