As students return to the classroom setting, the Wetumpka Depot Players are calling them to the stage! The Depot Days Youth Theatre Academy, an educational outreach of the Depot Players, is accepting students who wish to explore and learn the basics of the craft of theatre.

"After a 36 year history of providing summer theatre experiences for youth, the Wetumpka Depot Players are launching a brand new after school theatre program for children," said Depot executive director, Kristy Meanor. "Young artists will work with instructors in a nurturing and creative environment to learn the basics of storytelling, character development, stage movement and other exciting skills all while having a great time! It will all culminate to a showcase program for parents and family."

"Theatre is a collaborative art form and is a wonderful team building activity for young people. Studies also demonstrate that theatre education enhances academic performance,"said Jeff Langham, Depot board president. " We know that the study of theatre is vital to a well rounded education. Families who make the arts a priority have children who are more involved in community service and are less likely to drop out of school. It's been my pleasure to see young people around the Depot blossom into high achievers in the school setting as well as strong leaders in our community."
