The Depot Players are winding down their 36th Season with Mel Brook's comic masterpiece, Young Frankenstein the Musical, opening September 29.. The musical is based on the 1974 film of the same title starring the late Gene Wilder. Brooks' musical pays homage to all the familiar jokes and characters from the film.
"We are laughing every night in rehearsal, " said Kristy Meanor, Depot executive director and Young Frankenstein director. "Audiences are going to have a blast revisiting the beloved characters from the film. Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Igor, Inga and the horse-frightening Frau Blucher are being played by some of the River Region's most talented actors and supported by an equally talented ensemble and production team. The show follows Dr. Frederick Frankenstein's return to Transylvania to follow in his grandfather's footsteps to create a monster. Even if you haven't seen the film, the musical stands on it's own. There is nothing spooky about this campy and bawdy comedy!"

The musical will be performed the following dates: September 29, 30, October 1, 6-8, 13-15 7:30pm and October 9 at 2pm. Tickets are just $12 in advance and $15 at the door and online. Box office hours are Wednesday-Friday 9am-3pm or tickets may be reserved by calling the Depot at 334-868-1440 or by visiting the theatre's website at www.wetumpkadepot.com
