Register for Spotlighters Theatre's 2016 Summer Academy

Registration is open for Spotlighters Theatre's 2016 Summer Theatre Academy.

Lower School Program (K-5th grades) is designed as FIVE - One Week Modules. Each module is a complete session, which allows parents and students flexibility for family trips and other summer activities. Students may register for all five weeks, or any combination needed to meet a busy summer schedule.

The Academy runs Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm, beginning on July 11 and ending August 11, 2016.

Each week will have a specific focus: Puppets, Movement & Dance, Improv Acting, Playwriting, Shakespeare - all the while including teaching concepts and skills in developing on-stage characters, and understanding the concept of the play. Students will work together to create new works for performance showcases presented each Friday at 5:30pm. These are free for family and friends.

Upper School Program (6th-12th grades) is a consecutive five week program. Students are presented workshops in acting methods and techniques, and may choose a specialty track of either Classic Acting, or Musical Theatre. Each program track focuses on improving a students talents and skills in their focus area.

Students in Classical Acting will work with instructors on understanding dramatic and Shakespearean acting, as well as stage combat, improv, movement, vocal projection, and character development. Students in Musical Theatre will address improving their skills in Voice, Dance, Music Reading, as well as character development, stage combat, and Improv.

The Mon - Fri, 9a - 4p Academy begins on July 11 and ends Aug 11, 2016. There will be a final performance showcase on Fri & Sat, Aug 11 & 12, 2016.

Education Open House - Saturday, May 28th

Spotlighters Theatre is holding an Education Open House on Saturday, May 28, 2016, from 1p - 5p

This event will include presentations from students in our various after-school and in-school programs, and a chance to meet and talk with our instructors, other parents and students, and our Education Director as well. If you have questions about the education program, this is an ideal time to get the answers. Feel free to drop in as your schedule permits, and spend some time learning about the exciting programs Spotlighters offers in theatre education.

This year, Spotlighters has had a significant increase in the number of requests for Scholarships and Financial Aid for our Academy students. The budget and registration fees are very tight, and Spotlighters works to provide adequate compensation to its highly qualified instructors, so there is little room for discounts on the Registration Fees, without a direct effect upon the program.
