Olney Theatre Center's Interim Artistic Director Alan Wade announces the Theatre will be producing the groundbreaking Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Chorus Line this summer as part of the 2013 Season line up.

"This summer, we'll be doing that legendary musical about musical performers, A Chorus Line. I'm quite excited about offering this show to our Olney audiences," says Mr. Wade. "Its composer, the wonderful Marvin Hamlisch, passed away in 2012, and I can think of no more appropriate way for Olney Theatre Center to pay tribute to his genius, than to offer our audiences this most important musical of his career in this most important year for us."
Director and Choreographer Stephen Nachamie, 1776, Camelot, and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, returns to Olney Theatre Center to direct and choreograph A Chorus Line.

"A Chorus Line was revolutionary in giving a voice to the Broadway 'gypsy'- the hard working usually nameless dancers and singers who back up the star," says Mr. Nachamie. "Seeing this show on Broadway at 13 confirmed my passion for wanting to be in the Theatre, and helped me see others who live that passion in an endearing and enlightening way. I began my A Chorus Line performing and directing journey at 18 - and it was the best master class I could have ever asked for. I am very thankful to be invited to re-explore this wonderful, exciting and poignant show again. I can't think of a better way to be a part of celebrating Olney Theatre Center's 75th Anniversary season than giving our audiences an inside look at the people and the work and the passions that make live theatre special."

Featuring the hit Broadway songs "What I Did for Love," "One," and "Dance: Ten; Looks: Three" A Chorus Line follows 17 dancers competing for eight coveted spots in the chorus of a Broadway musical. Through the audition they bare their souls while sharing stories of their childhood, ambitions, fears, and experiences in show business. This musical is for anyone who has ever put it all on the line, whether it is for promotion, for attention, for approval, or for love. A Chorus Line replaces Carnival, originally scheduled in the summer slot.
