The Fantasticks in Broadway THE FANTASTICKS
Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Theatre
4/21-5/21/2017
Sentimental and funny, The Fantasticks is the longest-running musical in history for a reason. With a romantic tale of young lovers inspired by Romeo and Juliet, and memorable love songs accompanied by a lilting harp, it enchants audiences. A simply charming boy and girl next door are nudged toward marriage by their matchmaking Dads. Despite the Dads’ shenanigans and best intentions, the young couple must figure it out for themselves. With universal themes and a heartwarming earnestness, it’s appropriate for all ages. The Wall Street Journal has called it “The perfect first musical.” Our guest director is Curt L. Tofteland and our young Luisa and Matt, actors Roxanne Daneman and Rafael Sebastian, will steal your heart.

Little Women: The Musical in Broadway LITTLE WOMEN: THE MUSICAL
Third Wall Productions
5/12-5/21/2017
Based on Louisa May Alcott's life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters, Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March. Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she has to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.

Performances: May 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 Fri/Sat @ 8:15pm | Sun @ 2:00pm Music by Harvey Schmidt Lyrics by Tom Jones Book by Tom Jones Directed by Eric S. Scerbo Music Direction by Stuart Y. Weich Based on Les Romanesques by Edmond Rostand The Fantasticks tells an allegorical story concerning two neighboring fathers who trick their children, Luisa and Matt, into falling in love by pretending to feud. The fathers hire traveling actors to stage a mock abduction, so that Matt can heroically seem to save Luisa, ending the supposed feud. When the children discover the deception, they reject the arranged love match and separate. Each then gains disillusioning experiences of the real world, seen in parallel fantasy sequences. They return to each other bruised but enlightened, and they renew their vows with more maturity. Location: Kensington Town Hall / Armory 3710 Mitchell Street, Kensington, MD 20895

[TITLE OF SHOW]
Fells Point Corner Theatre
4/28-5/28/2017
A musical comedy about writing a musical comedy and all the madness that goes into it. A boldly original, blisteringly funny, and gloriously self-aware piece where three artists navigate self belief, friendship and art. Sounds improbable, but (title of show) wonderfully captures the spirit of daring to hope you can actually get paid to do what you love!
