Liberty Showcase Theatre presents the musical GODSPELL by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak, directed by Ted McCadden and Jay Althouse, and choreographed by Doug Kotula, tonight, July 20 through July 29, 2012.

A modern setting of the parables told in the Gospel according to Matthew, this production of Godspell illustrates the universal themes of the parables that are still present in contemporary society. Underscored with a message of acceptance of difference, the directors skillfully illustrate that the messages of the Gospels are as relevant today as when they were originally told.

Godspell opened off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and revivals many times since. Several cast albums have been released over the years and one of its songs, “Day by Day” from the original cast album, reached #13 on the Billboard pop singles chart in the summer of 1972.

All performances will be held at Owings Mills High School, located at 124 Tollgate Road, Owings Mills, Md., from Friday, July 20 to Sunday, July 29, 2012. Performances of GODSPELL are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm.

General admission is $16.00. Seniors, children under 12 and students with ID pay $13.00. (Group discounts and handicapped accommodations are available.) For tickets or further information, call (410) 340-0821, e-mail libertyshowcasetheatre@hotmail.com or visit www.libertyshowcasetheatre.org.
