Everyman Theatre's GROUNDED to Run 10/15-11/16

The sold-out, award-winning London hit Grounded lands in Baltimore for the first time in a new production at Everyman Theatre starring City Paper's 2014 Best Actress and Everyman Resident Company Member, Megan Anderson. She's a hot-rod F16 fighter pilot. Her unexpected pregnancy ends her high-flying career over the Middle Eastern skies. She finds herself instead flying remote-controlled drones half a world away while in a comfortable trailer just outside of Vegas.

An intense and thought-provoking blend of the personal and political, this "essential story of our times" (The Scotsman) will run from October 15th through November 16th.

Winner of the Scotsman Fringe First Award, the Smith Prize, and named a Top 10 London Play by both The Guardian and the London Evening Standard, Grounded is the second production of Everyman's 2014/15 season. Derek Goldman will direct the piece, which is a co-production with Olney Theatre Center. The production will be performed at Olney in February/March 2015.

Resident Company Member Megan Anderson plays the dynamic character known simply as "The Pilot." Ms. Anderson was just named City Paper's Best Actress for her work in last season's productions of Crimes of the Heart, The Dresser and Tribes. As a longtime Resident Company Member, she has also recently been featured in Everyman's productions of The Beaux' Stratagem, God of Carnage, You Can't Take It With You, and Fifty Words. She will also appear later this season in Noel Coward's comedy Blithe Spirit.

Regionally, Ms. Anderson has also recently performed at Theatre J in their production of After the Revolution. She also appeared in Olney Theatre Center's Helen Hayes nominated production of Rabbit Hole. She has also appeared at Rep Stage, Round House Theatre, Woolly Mammoth, Totem Pole Playhouse, among other others. Ms. Anderson is also well-known for her role as Jennifer Carcetti in HBO's The Wire.

Director Derek Goldman and playwright George Brant have known each other for many years. The two met when Mr. Goldman was a freshman in college and they have been friends ever since. Mr. Goldman was deeply involved in the workshops leading to the creation of Brant's script. Mr. Goldman has directed previous Everyman productions including: The Dresser, The Brothers Size, Shipwrecked!, and Blackbird. He is the Artistic Director of the Davis Performing Arts Center and Professor of Theater and Performance Studies at Georgetown University. Last season he also directed the Center Stage production of Stones in His Pockets. He is also an award-winning playwright, adapter, developer of new work and teacher.

Joining Mr. Goldman on the artistic team will be Scenic Designer Luciana Stecconi, Lighting Designer Harold F. Burgess II, Costume Designer Ivania Stack, Sound Designer Eric Shimelonis and Projection Designer Jared Mezzochi.

Due to the overwhelming success of the 2013/14 season, Everyman has expanded its productions for the upcoming season to include five weeks of performances. Grounded runs from October 15th through November 16th, offering performances Wednesday through Sunday, with selected Tuesday evening and Wednesday matinee performances.
