Community College of Baltimore County Presents O'ER THE RAMPARTS, 9/12 - 9/14

Discover Baltimore County's role in the War of 1812 during the world premiere of "O'er the Ramparts" Sept. 12-14, 2014 at the John E. Ravekes Theatre in the College Community Center at the Community College of Baltimore County, Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday Sept. 12 and Saturday Sept. 13 and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday Sept. 14. Admission is free and open to the public but tickets (available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-2787) are required.

This 90-minute musical production celebrates the momentous events leading up to, during and after the historic Baltimore County "Battle of North Point" on September 12, 1814. Original patriotic music will punctuate the historic reenactments featuring familiar names such as Francis Scott Key, Mary Pickersgill, Brigadier General John Stricker, Major George Armistead as well as the leader to the British fleet Rear Admiral Sir George Cockburn and the infamous Major General Robert Ross, known for the "burning of Washington," to name only a few.

A gift to the community underwritten by President Sandra L. Kurtinitis and the CCBC Foundation, this historical pageant is being produced by CCBC. Anne Lefter, director of CCBC Performing Arts, wrote and will direct this star spangled production with original music and lyrics composed by William Watson, professor of Music and dean of the School of Liberal Arts.

Live on-stage music, performed by the Baltimore Symphonic Band, under the direction of CCBC Professor of Music Christopher Wolfe, will be a highlight of this production.
