Children's Playhouse of Maryland to Present CRAZY FOR YOU, Young Performers' Edition

Children's Playhouse of MD (CPM), in residence at Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, opens its 2016-2017 season with the musical comedy, "Crazy for You, Young Performers' Edition," featuring more than 40 student actors from Baltimore City, Baltimore, Harford, and Howard counties.

The show will run at 1 p.m. on the weekend of Sept. 17-18, 24-25 and Oct. 1-2 with an additional performance at 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24. The Sept. 25 show will be sign-language interpreted by the students CCBC's Interpreter Preparation Program at CCBC Catonsville. All performances are given in the Administration Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

Tickets, which are $10 for all seats, are available from the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-2787 (ARTS) or online at www.cpmarts.org. Tickets will be available at the door, space permitting. Advanced ticket purchase is recommended.

"Crazy for You" is a musical romp that is a play within a play. The convoluted plot revolves around Bobby Child, a 1930's playboy with the dream of being a dancer and his scheme to save a theater by putting on a show that will star the girl of his dreams, actress Polly Baker. Based on the book by Ken Ludwig, "Crazy for You" serves as a showcase for the lyrics and music by George and Ira Gershwin including all-time favorites, "I Got Rhythm," "They Can't Take That Away for Me," "Nice Work If You Can Get It," and "Someone to Watch Over Me." Liz Boyer Hunnicutt directs this production. Chris Rose is the Musical Director and Amanda Dickson is the Choreographer.

Zach Miller of Baltimore, Md. plays Bobby Child and Ilyssa Rubin of Reisterstown, Md. appears as Polly Baker. Other featured cast members are Matt Byrd of Halethorpe, Md.
