CCBC Announces November Events

The Community College of Baltimore County celebrates National International Education Week this month, exploring global education through music, dance, art and theatre.  CCBC also hosts many varied activities:

Through Nov. 21:  “IMAGINED REALITIES” – The Gallery at CCBC Catonsville
10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Mondays-Thursday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, Closed – Sundays, Q Bldg., CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rolling Road
Curated by Nicole Buckingham and Erik Miller, the exhibit has works by Piero Macgowan (Firaxis Games), Sean Andrew Murray (Harmonix), John Jude Palencar (“Eragon book covers,” etc., and Jen Zee (Supergiant Games)

Nov. 2:   MARYLAND STATE BOYCHOIR – Music Forum at CCBC Essex
12:20 p.m. E building Recital Hall, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard.
Dubbed Maryland’s Official Goodwill Ambassadors, Maryland State Boychoir has 150 choristers ages 7 -20 representing a wide range of ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds.

Nov. 2:  STAR PARTY AT THE OBSERVATORY – CCBC Dundalk
8-10 p.m. (weather permitting), Observatory, CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Road
See celestial bodies up close with CCBC’s powerful Celestron 14-inch CGE 1400 XLT telescope.

Nov. 2-4:   “TITANIC: THE MUSICAL” – Dundalk Community Theatre

One of the greatest maritime tragedies in history is transformed into an emotionally charged musical and a Tony Award winning play!

Nov. 3-4, 10-11:  “THE ODD COUPLE” – Children’s Playhouse of Maryland

This production of Neil Simon’s comedy uses alternating male and female versions to explore the mismatch of a compulsive neat freak sharing an apartment with a slovenly friend!

Nov. 9: THE OLD LINE SAXOPHONE QUARTET – Music Forum at CCBC Essex

Traditional and modern jazz favorites as well as original compositions and arrangements played by David Rybczynski, Marty Nau, Ben Bokor and Leigh Pilzer.

Nov. 9-13: “MEDEA” – CCBC Catonsville Academic Theatre and the Community Book Connection

CCBC takes Euripides’ play to a new level with a tie-in to the “No Impact Man” sustainability mentality.  All performances include documentary screening and talk back.

The Community College of Baltimore County celebrates International Education Week with a host of free events featuring art, music, cultural displays and lectures showcasing the world.  

This year a special focus will be on the Ukraine with several programs on its history, culture, food and the famous Ukrainian eggs. Additionally, The Ukrainian Cultural Display will be exhibited from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. all week on the three main CCBC campuses -- in the Barn (B Bldg.) at CCBC Catonsville, 800 S. Rossville Blvd.; in the K Building Lobby at CCBC Dundalk, 7200 Sollers Point Rd. and in the B Building Dining Room, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd.

Witness the changes in the sky as the Sun appears to fall below the celestial equator at the autumnal equinox to its lowest position at the winter solstice.  Along the way, the Moon goes through its phases and planets move through their configurations in both the early and the late nighttime skies.
