The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory Players present The Two Gentlemen of Verona! Considered to be one of Shakespeare's earliest plays, it tells the tale of best friends Proteus and Valentine and the women they love (Julia and Silvia.) It employs some of Shakespeare's best comic devices- a woman dressed as a boy; well meaning, but not very bright servants; disapproving parents; and a group of outlaws with hearts of gold. It also includes one of Shakespeare's unlikeliest love stories- the love between a man (the servant Launce) and his dog, Crab (portrayed in this production by various adoptable dogs from the Baltimore Humane Society.)

This show is Baltimore Shakespeare Factory’s Annual Ensemble Experiment. For this production the company not only recreates the performance conditions of Shakespeare’s day, but the rehearsal conditions as well! The actors gather, WITHOUT a Director, for only 5 rehearsals before the show opens. The audience is armed with tomatoes (of the stress ball variety) to throw should the actors forget their lines! Featuring the Factory’s signature audience interaction and attention to Shakespeare's language, The Players' version of Two Gents is sure to entertain all ages!
