ATMTC Receives Harold Oaks Award

Theatre for Young Audiences/USA (TYA/USA), a national service organization whose mission is to promote the power of professional theater for young audiences across cultural and international boundaries, today announced Adventure Theatre MTC is a Harold Oaks TYA/USA 2015 Honoree.

The purpose of the Harold Oaks/TYA/USA Honorees is to acknowledge the significant contributions of individuals and organizations in the Theatre for Young Audiences field in the US. The award was created in 2013 in honor of Harold Oaks who served as President of ASSITEJ International (1999-2002); President of ASSITEJ/USA (1988-1995); President, The American Alliance for Theatre and Education (1987-88); and has been an officer of the National Association of Schools of Theatre; The American Theatre Association and The Children's Theatre Association of America.

"The entire ATMTC staff joins me in thanking TYA/USA for this amazing national honor," says Michael J. Bobbitt, Producing Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre MTC. This award is for 63 years of audiences, patrons, students, artists, board members, volunteers, staff and faculty that have grown up with us and experienced the rewards of live theater and theatre training."

The award will be accepted by Michael J. Bobbitt on behalf of Adventure Theatre MTC at One Theatre World: Chicago on May 7-8, 2015 at The Theatre School, DePaul University.

Adventure Theatre MTC is 2013 recipient of the Ann Flagg Multicultural Award from the American Alliance for Theatre & Education a two-time Helen Hayes Award Recipient of the Theatre for Young Audiences Award in Washington D.C. This is Adventure Theatre MTC's first TYA/USA Award.
