Jenna has the sweets and Nellie has the meats. Between Joe's Diner and Mrs. Lovett's Pie Shop, theatre-goers are getting pie in abundance this season at the Brooks Atkinson and Barrow Street Theatres. Just yesterday, two of the theatre community's most beloved pie makers -Jenna Hunterson and Mrs. Nellie Lovett (played by Betsy Wolfe and Carolee Carmello) met and BroadwayWorld was there!

Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Roundabout Underground alumni playwright Meghan Kennedy's (Too Much, Too Much, Too Many) new play Napoli, Brooklyn, commissioned by Roundabout, directed by Gordon Edelstein, opened officially last night, June 27, 2017 at the Laura Pels Theatre at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre (111 W 46th Street). This is a limited engagement Off-Broadway through September 3, 2017.

Now in its fourteenth year, the 2017 New York Musical Festival will take place July 10th through August 6th at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, The Peter Jay Sharp Theater, Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studio, The Green Room 42 @ YOTEL, and The Castillo Theatre in New York City. Start spreadin' the news! The ninth annual Jimmy Award winners were announced yesterday at the Minskoff Theatre. This year's finalists included: Sam Primack, Nathan Keffer, Antonio Cipriano, Jasmine Rogers, Hatty King, Maggie Gidden and winners Sofia Deler and Tony Moreno. Actors' Equity Association just presented Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 with the ninth annual "ACCA" Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. Presented by Equity's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), the ACCA Award is the only industry accolade of its kind to honor the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical.

Spamilton, the comedic musical take on all things Hamilton and Broadway, opened last night at its new home at the 47th Street Theater/The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. The new theater on 47th Street, which is just a block from its inspiration and main punchline, hosts the show for an open engagement.

Acclaimed Broadway illustrator Justin 'Squigs' Robertson and Tony & Emmy-award-winning theatrical producer and filmmaker Dori Berinstein's Spring 2017 edition of The Lights of Broadway Show Cards were released just last week, and BroadwayWorld was there for the big event. Manhattan Theatre Club's New York premiere of Cost of Living, the new play by Martyna Majok (Ironbound, Mouse in a Jar), directed by Jo Bonney (Father Comes Home from the Wars; By the Way, Meet Vera Stark), opened just last night, Wednesday, June 7, at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street). 

Just last night, The Public Theater celebrated its Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, with musical direction by Rob Fisher and Nadia DiGiallonardo, the 90-minute concert featured songs from The Public's most beloved and groundbreaking musicals performed by some of the most celebrated voices in theater. 

William Finn and James Lapine's musical FALSETTOS will soon air as part of PBS' 'Live From Lincoln Center.' The company of the five-time Tony nominated revival gathered yesterday for a special industry screeening and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day. Check out photos below!

Just last night, Manhattan Theatre Club presented its annual Spring Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street) honoring Matthew C. Blank, Chairman of Showtime Networks Inc. This year's Gala was hosted by Emmy and Tony Award winner Mandy Patinkin and featured performances by many of the most acclaimed musicals on Broadway including Bandstand; A Bronx Tale; Come From Away; Dear Evan Hansen; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812; Sunset Boulevard; and a sneak peek of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming production of Prince of Broadway.

The cast includes Shirine Babb as 'Celia Jones,' Alyssa Bresnahan as 'Luda,' Juliet Brett as 'Connie Duffy,' Jordyn DiNatale as 'Francesca Muscolino,' Lilli Kay as 'Tina Muscolino,' Elise Kibler as 'Vita Muscolino,' Erik Lochtefeld as 'Albert Duffy' and Michael Rispoli as 'Nic Muscolino.'

Paper Mill Playhouse, recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre Tony Award, will present the hit Broadway musical Mary Poppins based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film with original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, book by Julian Fellowes, new songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and co-created by Cameron Mackintosh. Bank of America is the Major Sponsor of Mary Poppins.

Atlantic Theater Company presents the world premiere production of Olivier Award winner Derren Brown's new show Secret, written by Andy Nyman, Derren Brown and Andrew O'Connor, and directed by Andrew O'Connor and Andy Nyman.
