Throughline Theatre's 2014 season kicks off in June, but auditions are just under a month away! Auditions will take place on February 15th and 16th by appointment at the Grey Box Theatre in Lawrenceville.

What happens when a gay twentysomething hits New York to follow his dream of becoming an actor? Reality sets in!

In a few short weeks, the curtain will rise on a whole new generation of local talent at City Theatre Company's annual Young Playwrights Festival. City Theatre's distinctive endeavor to nurture young talent provides middle and high school-age playwrights with the rare opportunity to see their work fully realized on a professional scale. Over several months, selected participants develop their submitted scripts in cooperation with a team of professional theatre artists, including actors, a director, and dramaturg. The plays ultimately come to life on City Theatre's Hamburg Studio Theatre stage in capstone weekend of showings open to the general public.

Programmed by Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas, Pittsburgh Public Theater's MADE IN AMERICA season includes a six-play Subscription Series plus two Special Events, all by American writers and set in cities across the USA. Surrounding the shows, a series of Town Hall Meetings will throw open the O'Reilly Theater doors to a broad range of topics and people.

Tracy Letts' 21st century masterpiece August: Osage County is a behemoth of play. Between the drug dependence, incest, perversion, and suicide that plague the eclectic bunch known as the Weston family, there's certainly a lot for one to process during the nearly-three hour marathon that is Letts' Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning monster. For that reason alone, Throughline Theatre Company deserves considerable applause for their decision to take on August during its third season.
