MixEd Salad Productions is looking for twelve local actors to star in the SA premiere of a new adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest next May.

Auditions will be held on Saturday 19 December at 9:30 am and 11:30 am at Star Theatre.

The auditions do not require a prepared piece, but will be a group workshop to see how potential cast members interact and fit well together.

Rehearsals will begin in March at Eden Hills.

Performances will be at Star Theatres, 145 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton from 25 May to 5 June 2010.

In this version drugs, drink, danger, lust and revenge cause a storm in paradise.

Tempest is an uber-cool nightclub on the beach where the beautiful people go for cocktails, wild parties and drugs. The owner is ruthless Propsero who dotes on his daughter Miranda.

Things start to get rough when a boat load of holiday-makers are stranded on the island and Prospero's past returns to haunt him.

Hell bent on revenge, Prospero causes a storm to protect his daughter, save his reputation and confront his demons.

Mix all this with liberal amounts of lust and badly-behaved party-animals - and things get as shaken up as one of Prospero's cocktails!

The setting may be modern but the words and the story are all Shakespeare's.

Directed by Sally Putnam, the play requires an ensemble of twelve actors including the major roles of Miranda, Prospero, Antonio and Ferdinand.

We're going to mix the roles up a little and include more female characters even though the original has only one female role. So girls, don't despair!

To book an audition time, call Sally at 0439 533 173 or email sally@mixedsalad.com.au.
