Opening MTC's 2012 Lawler Studio Season, BOY GIRL WALL by Matthew Ryan and Lucas Stibbard is a comic romp about love, where the universe conspires to bring two lost and lonely souls together. Lucas Stibbard stars in Boy Girl Wall, a role that earned him a Helpmann Award nomination. Following three sell-out seasons in Brisbane, Boy Girl Wall opens on Wednesday 18 April 2012 at 7.30pm at the MTC Theatre, Lawler Studio and runs until the 4 May.

Thom and Alethea are unhappy with their lot and living alone in adjoining apartments, until the Wall that separates them decides that they belong together. Wall enlists the help of the apartment's Ceiling, Floor, Doors and the Power Box to make the pair meet. Along the way, Thom and Alethea dodge local hazards and encounter an odd assortment of people and inanimate objects in a plot that transcends the mysteries of fate to manifest itself in a sweet and simple love story.

'For its sheer physicality this award-winning production is a Titan. This is an impressive display of the deft use of analogue theatrical imagination. A beautiful story and a jaw-dropping performance,' said Aidan Fennessy, MTC Associate Director.

Employing imaginative tricks and a handful of props Lucas Stibbard creates a simple yet powerful romantic thriller perfectly suited to the intimate Lawler Studio.

Boy Girl Wall is brought to the stage by award-winning independent theatre company The Escapists, whose previous triumphs include Elephant Gun and Attack of the Attacking Attackers. For Boy Girl Wall, The Escapists won the 2010 Matilda Award for Best Independent Production, Matilda Award nominations for Best New Australian Work and Best Direction, the Matilda Award for devising and producing Boy Girl Wall, and a Green Room Groundling Award for Best Production.

Lucas Stibbard earned a 2011 Helpmann Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play for his performance in Boy Girl Wall.
