Melbourne's burgeoning improvisation comedy scene is set to receive its newest core player. Cherry Pop is a genius live-stage comedy night, replete with some of the best improvisers in the country and introducing a few fresh faces into the mix. Hosted by Anna Renzenbrink, this is the perfect and early way to kick off your weekend.

Comedy audiences who are hungry to see high quality acts without being hauled up on stage and embarrassed need look no further than Cherry Pop. Each week they will be treated to three comedy heavyweights working with one of the newer faces in the scene and ably guided by the mistress of ceremonies, Anna Renzenbrink.

"Improv and sketch comedy are on the rise on both the stage and the screen which is really exciting," says Renzenbrink, "But amidst all of the major improv troupes, there is a seemingly obvious gap. Seasoned performers are aching for the opportunity to work with new sketch and improvisation forms and people that are new to the industry. Cherry Pop aims to provide that very platform."

With that in mind, audiences will be treated to the heavy hitters of improv comedy from a range of different companies. Guests include Nadine Antler (Germany), Brianna Williams, Michelle Nussey (Big Hoo Haa), Jason Geary and Lliam Amor (Impro Melbourne) with many more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Cherry Pop opens this Thursday, the 2nd of July and runs for every Thursday in July. Bookings are highly recommended. The show begins at 10:30pm at the The Butterfly Club, 5 Carson Place, Melbourne 3000. Tickets cosr $25-32 and for more information and tickets visit: thebutterflyclub.com/
