ZACH Theatre Invites Community to Open House Celebration, 11/3

ZACH Theatre invites the entire community to its open house celebration. The program includes the official dedication* of the new Topfer Theatre and the new sculpture Rhytons, which is part of the City of Austin's art in public places program. The event is free and open to the public, and will include tours of the new theatre, music, and a free reading.

10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. The schedule is:

10 a.m.-formal dedication of the Topfer and Rhytons
11 a.m.-tours of the new theatre and grounds
12 p.m.-Mariachi entertainment on the People's Plaza
12:30 p.m. Free reading of Mad Beat Hip and Gone, the new play by Steven Dietz, in the Topfer. A reservation is required for the free reading, call 476-0541 ext. 1.
3 p.m.-Event ends

Not officially part of the day, but an opportunity: ZACH will have special Youth Theatre performances of the new bilingual musical MARIACHI GIRL at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets start at just $10 and be purchased by phone or online here.

Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell and other city officials representing Parks and Recreation and the Art in Public Places program, among others; and ZACH leadership. Artist Cliff Garten, who created the Rhytons sculpture, will also be present and will speak about his artistic process, during the dedication.
