Penfold Theatre to Present Texas Premiere of ORDINARY DAYS, 3/20-4/6
Penfold Theatre Company presents the Texas premiere of Ordinary Days at the Off Center from March 20th to April 6th.
Interlaced with humor and romance, Ordinary Days is a fresh new musical that follows four 20- and 30-somethings in New York City who are searching for connection and purpose. Each one takes their own path - some neurotically funny and others deeply touching - learning how to let go of what holds them back and embrace the beauty of each "ordinary day."
Ordinary Days debuted at New York's Roundabout Theatre in 2009. Through this and other works, composer-lyricist Adam Gwon has distinguished himself as one of the musical theatre world's rising stars, receiving the Kleban Prize for excellence in writing for musical theatre. This production also features the vision of Dr. Michael McKelvey, a multi-award winning veteran of Austin's theatre scene who returns from his home in Pittsburgh to direct.
Ordinary Days is the third production in Penfold's 2013-14 Season and the company's fifth chamber musical to mount since its founding in 2007. "This genre trades the pomp of larger cast productions for a more intimate experience," says Producing Artistic Director Ryan Crowder. "We believe pieces like this are an important and growing part of musical theatre in America, as well as real gift to our audiences."
