No Strings Theatre Company presents "Into the Woods," directed by Nora Petty, at the Black Box Theatre, 430 N. Downtown Mall in Las Cruces which has performances today, July 25 to July 27 and August 1-3. "Into The Woods" is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. It won several Tony Awards including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical in a year dominated by Phantom of the Opera.

The musical cleverly begins with the characters of "Little Red Riding Hood," "Jack and the Beanstalk," "Rapunzel," and "Cinderella" whose stories continue after the "happily ever after" in their own fairy tales. In addition there is the story of a childless baker and his wife who wish to have a child. their interaction with a Witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey. Musical Numbers include "Into the Woods, "There's a Giant in the Sky," " Agony," and "Ever After."

Performances are Fridays, July 25 and August 1 at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays, July 26 and August 2 at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays July 25 and August 3 at 2:30 p.m.
