MMNT's 2014-15 Season to Include HAMLET, 'BRIDEGROOM,' MISALLIANCE & More
Mary Moody Northen Theatre, the award-winning producing arm of the St. Edward's University theater training program, announces its 2014-2015 season, featuring four plays ranging from classic to contemporary. Join us for our 42nd anniversary season and share in the fun and excitement at the theatre on the hill!
Join us for the regional premiere of Caryl Churchill's theatrically inventive, smart and thought-provoking new work. Over 50 interchangeable scenes, 14 actors portray more than 100 characters desperate to connect in a fast-paced world obsessed with a 'need to know' and unlimited access to information. What is important; where are the silences; how do we sort reality from the manufactured noise? Funny and poignant, Love and Information examines our technology-driven culture, celebrates our spirit and offers an ode to love in a disconnected world. Featuring Equity guests Janelle Buchannan and Rick Roemer.

What happens when a young prince loses his father, witnesses his mother's swift remarriage and must find his place amidst a swirling storm of his own grief, an impending war and possible treason? It's a terrifying challenge, and Hamlet must act quickly to find the truth, save his kingdom and restore order without compromising his integrity or losing his sanity. Or is it already too late? One of the finest plays ever written.
Heiress to her father's underwear fortune, Hypatia is engaged to the perfectly acceptable but astoundingly dull Bently Summerhays. Bored beyond measure, she longs for adventure to fall out of the sky. What are the odds on a lazy Sunday afternoon in Surrey in 1909? Luckily Hypatia has Shaw on her side, so things are looking up indeed. Peppered with a plane crash, eight proposals, a lone gunman, a Polish woman gymnast and a sound Shavian skewering of love and marriage, this breezy and spirited comedy will leave you laughing, appreciating your intellect and, perhaps, longing for a lemonade on the veranda.
In this super silly musical fairy tale, rascally robber Jamie Lockhart courts Rosamund, the only daughter of the richest planter in the country. The proceedings go awry thanks to a case of double-mistaken identity. Add an evil stepmother intent on Rosamund's demise, a pea-brained henchman and a hostile talking head-in-a-trunk (really!), and you have quite an adventure on your hands. Filled with bluegrass and thigh-slapping fun!
All performances are Thursday - Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM.
