Austin Shakespeare to Host Talk Back After Every Performance of OTHELLO, Beg. 2/13

To enhance the audience experience, after every performance of Austin Shakespeare's Othello, we will have a "Talk Back" with actors, director and on selected days special speakers.

Opening night, Thursday, Feb. 13
Dr. Bernth Lindfors author of Ira Aldridge bio series (first African-American actor to play Othello in Europe)

Sunday, Feb. 15, 3pm matinee
Shakespeare scholar: Dr. James Loehlin of the Dept of English at UT, and Charles Ney (Texas State Dept professor of acting and directing)

Saturday, Feb. 22
Dr. Alan Friedman (English Dept UT) & Nadine Mozan (Tx state prof)

Celebrating its 30th year in 2014, Austin Shakespeare announces its cast for Shakespeare's greatest tale of jealousy and passion: Othello, to be presented February 13 - March 2 at The Long Center's Rollins Studio Theatre, where AustinShakespeare is a resident company. Marc Pouhé will return in the title role; "Othello" was Pouhé's first majorShakespeare role in 2005; subsequently he starred as Macbeth for then new Artistic Director, Ann Ciccolella, who will direct this new Othello production.

After a winning a battle against a long-term, serious illness, Marc is back. A three-time winner of the Austin Critics' Table Award, Marc has appeared on TV in Prison Break and Friday Night Lights, and on a lighter note, Marc is the voice of Dogbert in the animated web series on Dilbert.com.

Spotlight on Opera is Austin's own community opera troupe, dedicated to providing training and performance opportunities to career track and avocational singers aged 15 and up and to bringing high quality, low cost opera toAustin area audiences. Founded and directed by Cindy Sadler, a professional opera singer and native Austinite, now in its 8th season. We are open to classical singers aged 15 and up, whether they are well on their way to a place on the professional stage or just want to dip their toes in wonderful world of opera.

Spotlight produces a variety of concerts, opera scenes showcases, and full length operas throughout the year, and offers a 4-week intensive training programs to singers aged 15 and up in the summer. Past productions include The Ballad of Baby Doe, The Rape of Lucretia, Cosi fan tutte, Little Women, Carmen, Falstaff, and Cavalleria rusticana. Our current season features our popular Song Cafe (an improvised musical play using art song to tell the story) on April 8 & 9, and the Viva Verdi! Concert on May 31 and June 1.
