THE ODD COUPLE to Close Stage Door Players' 40th Season, 7/11-8/3
Stage Door Players closes its 40th Anniversary Season with Neil Simon's Tony Award winning comedy The Odd Couple, featuring the company's Artistic Director, Robert Egizio in the role of fastidious Felix Unger. Alan Kilpatrick, Associate Artistic Director of the Atlanta Lyric Theatre, treads the boards as everyone's favorite slob, Oscar Madison. The show opens on Friday, July 11, 8pm curtain, and runs until August 3.
Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm. There is one Thursday evening performance on July 31, at 8pm. Single tickets are on sale now at the box office (770-396-1726), or online at www.stagedoorplayers.net. Tickets for The Odd Couple are $27. Senior, student and youth discounts are available. Stage Door Players is located at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338, approximately one block south of the Mt. Vernon Road and Chamblee Dunwoody Road intersection, in the North Dekalb Cultural Arts Center.
Rounding out this great cast are old friends and new: Jim Dailey, George Deavours, Rial Ellsworth, Mary Emily O'Bradovich, Topher Payne, and Kathleen Seconder. Shelly McCook directs.
This Tony Award-winning comedy opens as a group of the guys are assembled for cards in the apartment of divorced Oscar Madison, and if the mess is any indication, it's no wonder that his wife left him. Late to arrive is Felix Unger--recently separated from his wife. Fastidious, depressed, and none too tense, Felix seems suicidal, but as the action unfolds (with hilarious results), the clean-freak and the slob decide to room together and Oscar becomes the one with murder on his mind!
The production/design team includes Rial Ellsworth (Sound Design), Rachel Hamilton (Props Design), Chuck Welcome (Scenic Design), Hampton Whatley (Production Manager), John David Williams (Lighting Design), and Liz Wittemore (Costume Design). The show is Stage Managed by Hayley Brotherton.
Tickets start at $27 and are available online at www.stagedoorplayers.net or by calling the box office at (770) 396-1726. Senior, student and youth discounts are available. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30pm. There is also one Thursday evening performance on July 31.
