Serenbe Playhouse opens its third season, "A Season of Dreams" with a world premiere adaptation of Alice in Wonderland- a most curious dream written by Rachel Teagle. Directed by Serenbe Playhouse founder and artistic director Brian Clowdus, Alice in Wonderland- a most curious dream is described as "a dazzling and intrepid adventure that will entertain children and adults alike." The show runs from Friday, June 1 through Thursday, July 28, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays starting at 11 a.m., in The Forest Glen(near The Tree House) at Serenbe.

"If you are going to produce Alice or any other well-known story, I think it has to have a unique take on the classic," said Serenbe Playhouse founder Brian Clowdus.  "This adaptation will go back in time when theatre was told through mask work (Commedia del'Arte). The actors have themselves, their masks and their imagination as tools. "

In this fresh adaptation based on the Lewis Carroll classic, the audience meets an introverted Alice who is closed off from the world, her imagination, and most tragically, her ability to dream. With help from a ragtag troupe of magical masked characters, Alice loses herself in the rapture of nonsense, unlocks the imagination dormant in her mind, and finally learns what it means to be her true self. Paying homage to the spirit of Commedia dell' Arte Serenbe Playhouse invites children of all ages to fall down this dreamy, fantastical new rabbit hole.

"This adaptation emphasizes the joy and excitement of losing yourself in a good story, as Alice is drawn on a mad chase through Wonderland, a world where anything is possible," said playwright Rachel Teagle. "One of the joys of working with Serenbe is seeing stories brought to life in these incomparably beautiful settings by such a talented and dedicated team. I know I will be in good hands at Serenbe Playhouse."

Alice in Wonderland- a most curious dream is the first of a season of exciting shows and is a must see for families and young audiences alike. The show will be performed Friday, June 1 through Saturday, July 28, on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 am. Serenbe is located in Chattahoochee Hills, just West of Palmetto. Ticket prices are $15 for general admission and $10 for Students and Children. Children under the age of 2 receive free admission.
