Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), North Fulton's only professional theatre company, will kick off the New Year with a play that's sure to be the cure for the post-holiday doldrums. The hilarious comedy, Charley's Aunt, will take the stage January 7th through the 24th, 2016 at the Theatre's home, the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest Street, Roswell, GA. GET and Atlanta favorite David Crowe is in the directing chair to bring this time-tested comedy by Brandon Thomas to life. Says Crowe, "At its heart Charley's Aunt is a very silly play about the very serious business of courtship. That's one of the reasons the play has been produced so much in the past hundred or so years. Falling in love sometimes requires us to bend and even break society's rules in order to live happily ever after." This production is graciously sponsored by the Robert W. Hagan Family Foundation.

The Plot:

Jack loves Kitty, and Charley loves Amy. But things are about to get complicated, and it requires a young fellow donning bloomers and a corset.

Before Tootsie, before Mrs. Doubtfire, before Madea, there was Charley's Aunt, the hilarious comedy with madcap mayhem and CROSS-DRESSING! Throw in a little fun of sitcoms like "Three's Company," "Benny Hill," and "Bosom Buddies," and you find this outrageous romp filled with crazy confusion and mistaken identity, a perfect recipe for laughs. Director Crowe recently described the fun of doing this show, "Take a big helping of bawdy humor and a generous portion of dry wit with a keen eye for character, and you have Charley's Aunt-a hilariously naughty comedy about young love."

The Cast:

Charley's Aunt will feature some of the funniest and most accomplished actors Atlanta has to offer. Atlanta favorite Hugh Adams will play Lord Babberly (The Foreigner at GET), with Joanna Daniel as Donna Lucia (Calendar Girls at GET), Scott DePoy as Colonel Chesney (Almost Heaven, John Denver's America at GET) and Rachel Garner as Kitty Verdun (The Elephant Man and The Great Gatsby at GET). Also in this first-rate ensemble cast are Joe Sykes as Jack Chesney (Blackberry Winter at Actor's Express, Private Lives at Stage Door Players), Steve Hudson as Stephen Spettigue (Romeo & Juliet and The Elephant Man at GET), Stephanie Friedman as Ela Delaney (The Whale and Pluto as Actor's Express), and Charles Green as Brassert (Sherlock Holmes and The Boys Next Door at GET). Making their GET debuts, William Webber as Charles Wykeham, and Angelica Spence as Amy Spettigue complete the cast.
