The ladies of the Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society are back at Newnan Theatre Company, and they are presenting a "spine-chilling murder mystery" as only the Farndale Ladies (and their trusty stage manager, Gordon) can!

After winning the crowds with their somewhat catastrophic version of "A Christmas Carol," the ladies are more than up to the task.

As the story goes, spooky old Checkmate Manor is being plagued by a series of nefarious murders, as the members of the Bishop family are being picked off one by one. Inspector O'Reilly, the famous Scotland Yard detective, is on the case, though. Can he solve the mystery before the entire Bishop family is wiped out? Only time will tell...

"We have such a good time with the 'Farndale Ladies' shows," says director Mary Caroline Moore. "After the Farndale 'Christmas Carol' show was so well-accepted, the cast and I sat down and decided we needed to try another of the Farndale plays. Everyone agreed to step back into their roles, but we had a new character to bring in. Megs Free stepped in and quickly became one of the "Farndale family."

Moore, who is also the managing director of Newnan Theatre Company, thinks the Farndale shows are so popular because they are not to be taken seriously at all. "While the ladies of the group are doing their best to perform in all seriousness, everything they do seems to go wrong. And yet, they keep on plowing through, trying their best to keep the famous British 'stiff upper lip' about everything."

Terri Whitley and Andi Laaker play rivals Phoebe Reece and Thelma Greenwood. Each considers herself to be the "star" of the group, and never rests from trying to be better than the other. Allison Yost plays Felicity, who just loves acting, even though she is not the most talented girl in the Guild. Megs Free is Audrey, a new member of the Farndale Avenue Dramatic Society. Tony Daniel returns as Gordon Pugh, the Guild's stage manager who seems to always get stuck acting, even though his talents run more toward painting and moving set pieces.

The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen's Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery opens September 29th and runs through October 9th. Shows start at 8 pm on Thursdays through Saturdays, with 3 pm matinees on Sundays. The show will be presented in the Black Box arena of Newnan Theatre Company. Tickets are available on the Newnan Theatre Company's website, www.newnantheatre.org, or by calling NTC at 770.683.6282.
