TerraNOVA COLLECTIVE and Producing Artistic Director, Jennifer Conley Darling, are pleased to announce two special headliner events as part of the 10TH Annual soloNOVA Arts Festival, the award-winning and longest-running solo performance festival in New York City. Acclaimed
mime, Bill Bowers' BEYOND WORDS, and Jeanne Sakata's HOLD THESE TRUTHS performed by the 2013 Drama Desk Award nominee Joel de la Fuente, will be presented in celebration of the art of solo storytelling.

BEYOND WORDS will kick off the festival performing Wednesday May 22 at 8pm and Saturday May 25 at 2pm at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street, NYC). HOLD THESE TRUTHS will close the festival performing Tuesday June 4 at 7pm, Monday June 10 at 7pm and Tuesday June 11 at 7pm at Culture Project (45 Bleecker Street, NYC). The eight other solo shows included in the soloNOVA Arts Festival will play two weeks only at IRT Theater (154 Christopher Street, inside the landmark Archive Building). Performances begin Thursday, May 23 and continue through Sunday, June 2.

Darling is "thrilled to be presenting two extraordinary talents in the solo performance world. The powerful storytelling and movement elements of these special events further adds to our 10 year anniversary celebration and exemplifies the values of soloNOVA."

BEYOND WORDS
Written and Performed by Bill Bowers
Developed with and directed by Scott Illingworth
Sound Design by David Margolin Lawson
Costume Design by Michael Growler
Original Lighting Design by Lee Terry

Set against the backdrop of small town America, BEYOND WORDS takes us on a journey from boyhood to manhood and considers the lessons learned along the way. One of the most acclaimed multi-disciplinary artists, Bill Bowers employs an eloquent mixture of music, monologue and mime to create a vibrant and poetic montage that is Beyond Words. "Bowers
effortlessly brings us to laughter and tears, often at the same time."
- The New York Post.

HOLD THESE TRUTHS
Written by Jeanne Sakata
Directed by Lisa Rothe
Performed by Joel de la Fuente
Set Design by Mikiko Suzuki McAdams
Sound Designer/Composer Daniel Kluger
Lighting Design by Cat Tate Starmer
Costume Design by Meg Weeden

Inspired by a true story, HOLD THESE TRUTHS takes place in Seattle during World War II, where University of Washington student Gordon Hirabayashi is agonizing over U.S. government orders to forcibly remove and mass incarcerate all people of Japanese ancestry on the
West Coast. As he fights to reconcile his country's betrayal with his passionate belief in the U.S. Constitution, Hirabayashi journeys toward a greater understanding of America's triumphs - and a confrontation with its failures.

"Jeanne Sakata's eloquent one-man drama about civil rights giant Gordon Hirabayashi...Joel de la Fuente plays Hirabayashi with buoyant, magnetic enthusiasm, under the direction of Lisa Rothe, and seamlessly steps in and out of several other roles." -- HUFFINGTON POST
